Bengals beat writer says that Shaun Smith's release was simply due to a "numbers game."

He's played like shit all season and was in fact benched against Tenneseee in an attempt to send a message. Then he's late to practice and rather than be a man about it, he whines like a little girl about being sent home. That's not going to fly around here. The guy makes too much money to play like shit AND be a bitch about it

Got Bengals @ Minny and San Diego @ Dallas. The two games I wanted. Big week for my guys in the orange. Those wins over Pittsburgh are suddenly looking less and less special, and I'm realizing that outside of GB and maybe Baltimore they aren't exactly rolling in quality wins thanks to Pitt's collapse. This is a great measuring stick game today.
And I get to watch San Diego bomb on Dallas ... hopefully.

So, if Tom Brady doesn't play today....that would be terrific.

I got:
FOX: Saints @ Falcons CBS: Broncos @ Colts CBS@1: Chargers @ Cowboys
Would've wanted CIN/MIN, but at least I didn't get any duds (unless the Falcons can't make a game of it). Big game (for me) in OAK/WAS, both teams have been playing better these last few weeks. The Raiders have yet to get back-to-back wins, and the Redskins just nearly knocked off the Saints. Haynesworth is out today, so we must take advantage of that even if their defense is solid in the other areas.

There will be a shake-up even if they do somehow run the table these next weeks. That they'll be out of the playoffs will be enough, not to mention their play and the teams they've lost to.
Bruce Arians is as good as gone.

Watching Fantasy Football Live on ESPN 2 and they are playing Lex Luger's WCW theme song in the background.

While we're on the Steelers.....
Tomlin reminds me a bit of Gruden. Took someone else's team to a SB victory early in his tenure, was showered with accolades, and then started to point fingers when things went sour. We'll see if things stay sour (or mediocre) over time, but he's getting quite a bit of mileage with his sideline schtick of trying to look cool.

Four penalties on Cincinnati in the first 2:30 of this game. They seem jumpy.

I've never been a big fan of Tomlin for that reason. He took someone else's talent and won a Super Bowl, but I have yet to see him put his fingerprints on this team. Does he even do anything? Dick LeBeau calls the defensive plays and Arians calls the offensive plays, so what exactly does he do? I'm not trying to minimize his job or whatever, but what does he do?

Palmer is sacked, this drive mercifully ends for Cincinnati.
