Those chairshots seemed a little extreme. And the dominator was kind of scary to watch every time Farooq did it.

*Watches the stair shots*
......Ouch.
Someone please refresh my memory. What prompted the Acolytes to do that? I remember PE had heat with the locker room, but I forget the exact reason.

From what I remember from the "Forever Hardcore" doco. Terry Taylor said that PE had turned down a contract from WWF and went to WCW instead. So when they came to WWF they were booked in a match with the Acolytes and Terry Taylor informed them that they would be stiffed a couple of times and they should just take it. However it went way further than Terry thought. And a couple of days after the match, PE were fired. Indicating that WWF omly hired them to humiliate them.

Didn't know the Public Enemy ever wrestled in WWF/E. Did they have a few matches or just this one?
EDIT: Nevermind, I just read the other posts and watched the match.

I never believed that for a second If they wanted to humiliate them they never would've paid them they would have stuck PE shirts on two jobbers and annihalated them What I heard was the TPE came in acting like they were big stars and just generally pissing eveyone backstage off(Hence the Russo storyline) and that eventually sombody just went and told the APA to demolish them

I think i remember seeing a Dudleyz interview where they said the Acolytes tried to do that to them but they were not having any of it.
this was pretty brutal.

I believe Kevin Kelly said in his shoot that after the match backstage the PE went up to the Acolytes and shook their hands. So you can't say anything bad about the PE in that regard.

Pretty brutal by today's standards, but didn't seem any worse than a lot of the stuff at the time.

Pretty brutal by today's standards, but didn't seem any worse than a lot of the stuff at the time. Oh of course. If that exact thing was seen today, Michael Cole would have been ranting "This is by far one of the most vile and vicious attacks I've ever seen in my 10 plus years as a commentator. These men have maimed this team, maimed the WWE Universe!".

To quote one of the guys who were in this match..... DAMN!
I actually do remember Public Enemy being in the WWF, and they were buried. I know that term "buried" gets thrown around a lot these days, but this is one of the few instances where I really think it applies. From the minute Public Enemy debuted, they got destroyed by anyone and everyone. They were beaten up and humiliated basically every week. Perhaps this was done due to the backstage attitudes or whatever, but still -- it was a burial nonetheless.
