Ochocinco, Crocker, Peko all ready to play against the Jets. Just need a definitive word on Geathers and my mind is at ease. Last couple of news bits from the last one.

'No love for Clay Matthews?! I suppose it's not as bad as when Nick Barnett got shafted out of the award because I know Cushing has been pretty damn good.' Just quoting myself. I'd like to point out that the Packers are in the playoffs and who would of thought that with Aaron Kampman and Al Harris getting crocked? Clay has been f***ing awesome and his season is still alive. I don't know, shouldn't being alive at the end of the year mean something? (Like I said, no ill will to the winner)

Cushing is an animal, I'm glad he got it. Although I would have had no problem with the Byrdman getting the nod either.

Saints placed LE Charles Grant on injured reserve with a torn triceps muscle, ending his season.
According to NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora, Wes Welker (torn ACL, MCL) is expected to be fully recovered for the start of next season.

Rumor is 49ers-Eagles will be one of the London games.
NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora reports recently fired Bills interim head coach Perry Fewell is "very likely" to be named defensive coordinator for the Bears.
According to Browns beat writer Tony Grossi, there is "increasing speculation" that Mike Holmgren is targeting Panthers coach John Fox as his top candidate for head coach.
Browns president Mike Holmgren reiterated that he wants to keep Josh Cribbs in Cleveland and has already contacted the Pro Bowler's representatives.

Hopefully Wes and Charles come back stronger than ever next season.

I was watching a replay of the Cowboys/Eagles game and something really struck me as odd. Philly called the most vanilla game I've ever seen them call, especially on defense. I'm not saying they threw the game and gave up home field to lull the Cowboys into a false sense of security, but Wade and company threw out the kitchen sink against the Eagles and Andy gave them nothing in return.
I'd be surprised if this weeks game is anything close to what we saw last week in Dallas.
Same thing for the rest of the repeats (especially Arizona).

Big difference is whose under center. Seems Green Bay went all out to beat the Cards, who were playing as vanilla as vanilla gets (and Matt Leinart....).

Big difference is whose under center. Seems Green Bay went all out to beat the Cards, who were playing as vanilla as vanilla gets (and Matt Leinart....). It made sense for Arizona to be vanilla and bad - once the Vikes blew out the Giants, they had a chance to see what a motivated Packers team had, whereas Green Bay saw basically nothing of use and will rely on tape to gameplan. Same with the Bengals and Jets. Both were division winners who partially held their own fates for seeding and opponents. If you hold your guys back for a week while letting them see certain colors and numbers running against them and let them get used to how the opponent plays, then it might be a coaching/preparation as well as motivational tool. Nobody wants to lose to the same team twice in a row. Perhaps Whisenhunt and Lewis wanted to be at home against the Pack and Jets respectively, rather than be at home against the loser of the NFC East game and [would it have been Pittsburgh or Houston via tiebreaker?] respectively.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Mike Shanahan has signed a five-year contract to coach the Washington Redskins. The Denver Post writes the contract is worth approximately $7 million a year.

....The turf was sooo bad you chose to play your starters on it? Smooth Bill. If Brady was hurt, Goodell would have to update the "Tom Brady" Rule, whereas the field surface would have to be at the precise measurements for a football game.

I'll admit I'm a bit fearful of a repeat of '07 where the Boys swept a division foe, then lost to them in the playoffs. You know they're gonna be blitzing Romo like there's no tomorrow. Here's hopin he continues to play like he has the last couple of weeks and weathers the coming storm.

They had just played the Texas Bowl just days before the Patriots-Texans game on Sunday afternoon, so that probably contributed to the field's poor quality. But Belichick shouldn't be complaining about field quality, because Gillette Stadium's field (or green-painted dirt) was so legendarily awful, that they had to replace it with FieldTurf mid-way through the 2006 season. It was a freak injury. It could have happened to any player at any time on any field. It's a damn shame, but it wasn't as preventable as people are making it out to be.

I don't know how much faith I have in Julian Edelman playing Wes Welker's position. He has Welker's speed but doesn't quite have his hands. Welker's injury is a huge blow to the Pats offense and I'm not sure how well they'll do without him, even with Brady and Moss out there.
