...sigh... kotaku.com/5425102/early-video-outs-green-day-rock-bandMAYBE if you can export songs (and CHOOSE which ones. I want Longview, dammit!), but still, I made fun of Guitar Hero for picking bands like Van Halen, but Rock Band should just stick with bands that, you know, revolutionized the music industry, not a pseudo-political, pseudo-punk rock band with only a few good songs under their belts (and almost got their asses kicked by Taz). Hey, for once I'm agreeing with KStrick on a music related topic! ;D I mean, I can understand The Beatles: Rock Band. I can kinda understand Guitar Hero: Metallica or even Aerosmith or Van Halen. But Green Day: RB? One of these things is not like the others. Yeah, Aerosmith sucks! *ducks*

Any word if Rock Band is ever gonna expand on Muse's library of one song?

Yeah, Aerosmith sucks! *ducks* Eh, don't worry, I won't throw anything in your general direction. The only Aerosmith song I really like is Train Kept A Rollin', and even that is a cover. However, the point was that whether you like them or not, Aerosmith is quite a legendary band, the best selling American rock band in history in fact, and I think that's enough reason for them to have a GH spinoff (besides, they have lots of songs that are well suited to the gameplay). Green Day, however... I can't see their songs being too enjoyable to play (or sing for that matter) on Rock Band, and it's not like they're big rock legends or anything like that.

Ironically enough, I now HATE Train Kept A Rollin' because of Rock Band.

I have a question. Where is Hendrix?? Arguably one of the greatest performers of all time, and he has one song across all RBs (Fire on Lego Rock Band), and 5 songs across all GHs. This started as a guitar based game, and yet the greatest guitarist of all time is only on 6 times?? How is this possible?

Let me just say this about Green Day Rock Band, how the f*** do you go from The Beatles straight down to Green Day?!

Let me just say this about Green Day Rock Band, how the f*** do you go from The Beatles straight down to Green Day?! Seriously. I would prefer almost anything over Green Day. Here are some games I would rather see... Rock Band: Iron Maiden? Up the Irons! Maybe a bit too... well, metal for some, but this would be very enjoyable for me. Rock Band: Judas Priest? Ditto. Rock Band: Guns N' Roses? Oh, hell yes. Why hasn't such a game been made yet? Rock Band: KISS? Okay, KISS isn't universally liked or anything, but they're a legendary band nevertheless and have a lot songs that would be fun to play on Rock Band, and I can imagine what kind of visuals and other cool stuff Harmonix could create for their game. Rock Band: Iggy Pop & The Stooges? Oh yeah, baby, that would rock. Just think of the shows you'd play circa 1973-74 with bottles and assorted crap being thrown at you... and of course, bonus points would be awarded for acting like Iggy and baiting the audience. ;D Rock Band: Queen? Hell, why not? Rock Band: Muse? I'm not a huge fan of these guys, but as far as modern day rock bands go Muse is probably the most interesting one. Rock Band: The Ramones? Okay, maybe there's not much variation in their material, but it's the Ramones and they'd eat Green Day for breakfast any day of the week.

I'm guessing I'm the only one here who wouldn't mind playing Green Day: Rock Band.

I'm guessing I'm the only one here who wouldn't mind playing Green Day: Rock Band. Pretty much. Power chords =/= RB fun. It's not like their songs are even decent. I just want Longview. That's it. Maybe She or Welcome to Paradise, but the rest of their songs are not my cup of tea. But, there ARE still rumors of Queen: Rock Band. However, with that huge track pack they just released, the 2 songs in Lego Rock Band, I doubt that'll ever happen.

Personally, I say make peoples' heads explode.
Rock Band : King Crimson. (With required Chapman Stick 20 Button controller and Warr Guitar 15 Button Controller) Indiscipline, Sleepless, Frame By Frame....
This needs to happen.

They decide what can be done with his music, like it or not.

Just Chapman Hero itself would be quite the novel concept. But this Green Day shit... it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to me. There is no possible way they will be able to treat this game with the same amount of detail that they did with Beatles, and that was what made that game. That and the music itself, which is subjective so I won't go there. But come on Harmonix, why? Why do you need to compete with Activison in a whoring contest to see which franchise will burn out first? I'm going to guess that by the end of 2010, music games will drop to DDR status with one coming out a year and about 5,000 people actually caring. Why did one of my favorite genres have to go out and do this shit to itself? [\tiredoverreaction]

Why did one of my favorite genres have to go out and do this s*** to itself? [\tiredoverreaction] Oh, Guitar Hero is easily the most whored out of the two. Off the top of my head, this year had at least 4 GH releases: - Metallica - Smash Hits - 5 - Va Halen We only had 2 Rock Bands this year. Hell, all the "Hero" games have been whored out this year. The 4 GH games plus DJ Hero and Band Hero! Which is....just Guitar Hero but under a new packaging. What music games NEED to do, in order to succeed, is, except for DJ Hero as that is a new series and a new controller, stop making the bundles with all the controllers, I respect them making the controllers for Beatles look just like the actual instruments, but dude, no one needs the controllers anymore. I mean come on, I could go out right now and grab the Rock Band, Rock Band 2, or Guitar Hero: World Tour band kits for $100! That's around half the price of the new band kits! The consumers have the band kits now, just release the discs. No more controller bundles, please. That, if anything, is the biggest reason for music games bombing this year, the f***ing price of them. I bet if they were all just the price of a normal game disc, they would fly off shelves. As I said, only DJ Hero has any reason for having a controller bundle right now. After DJ Hero 2(it is coming), they should stop doing DJ Hero turntable bundles, too. And now that I am done with that rant, let me get to my Green Day joke/jab. I hope they at least include in the story mode the part where they sell out and become mainstream. ;D

I'm guessing I'm the only one here who wouldn't mind playing Green Day: Rock Band. Same. I probably won't buy it brand new or anything, but I'll likely pick it up when the price has gone down quite a bit. I like Green Day a lot and I think it sounds pretty fun.

They still thinking about a Green Day game? I thought it was just gonna me DLC, since we get 3 more songs from 21st Century Breakdown next week. And whenever the EP they are working on comes out, it will releast on RB as well.
If they are still thinking of a Green Day game, Im all for it. They are my favorite band and I would pick it up in a second.

Of course, Guitar Hero pulled much of the World Tour kits off shelves in favor of Band Hero. I know because I've been looking all over for them but was a few weeks late in buying them and now I can't get them. I would buy Rock Band instruments (especially now that I've seen the drums for like $50 in some places) but they don't work with Guitar Hero games on the Wii. If I wanna play both games, I gotta get Guitar Hero instruments. The big kicker is the only real difference between World Tour and Band Hero instruments is that the drums are a bit sturdier and the cymbals are wider. That's it! But that's Activision for you.
Anyways, if any band deserves a standalone RB game, its the Foo Fighters. Just for the fact that there's already like 2-3 albums worth of DLC that they should just pull the trigger and release the entire catalog.

Queen or The Rolling Stones, please.
Also, i'm off to buy Lego Rock Band this week precisely because it has more mainstream appeal to me - too many of the other games are too heavy metal or punky for my tastes.
