Why is it that guys like Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, who haven't even been around for a year, are holding major championships. But guys who have been around, like Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy lose.

It is kinda funny, just sort of skipping over guys who were SUPPOSED to get over throughout the last.....5 or so yrs? MVP, Shelton, Legacy, Kofi, Morrison, Miz, CHRISTIAN....they could have really picked from any of those guys. Sheamus is alright, but guys like Mcintyre, what in the hell do they have going for them? Can't complain too much though, at least some guys are getting a shot.

It's surprising that this subject has never come up before in the couple of weeks since Sheamus and McIntyre won their belts. The most interesting Shelton has ever been was when he had his Momma around and the most over Matt has ever been on his own was during his worked shoot feud with Edge over Lita. Just throwing that out there. There are veteran guys who deserved titles more than Sheamus and Drew, but Shelton and Matt are not good examples.

New stars getting a push? Isn't this what we wanted to happen?

New stars getting a push? Isn't this what we wanted to happen? New guys in the ME scene. Not BRAND new guys.

New stars getting a push? Isn't this what we wanted to happen? Depends how you define "new." It turns out that when "we" said "new," we meant new in the sense of "not pushed before." "We" didn't actually mean new "new" as in "new to WWE." This "sentence" is only "here" for the sake of more "quotation marks."

Drew McIntyre just won his first Intercontinental Championship, a title Shelton has won several times. How exactly is that unfair?

There's nothing wrong with being a mid card wrestler. Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy have had a steady paying job for years. What's the big deal?
Not EVERYBODY has to become a main eventer.

These two winning weren't that predictable. They both have great potential IMO. Let's see what they do now that they have the title.

Well, three schools of thought here.
A)They don't want to give the chance to people they don't think can handle it. They've tried pushing Matt & Shelton for instance, and it just didn't take for one reason or another. Billy Gunn is a prime example of what happens when you really try really hard to push a guy that just isn't going to go where you want them to. I think he was pushed like 14 times, and nobody cared *EVERY* time. He & Shelton even share that "Best pure athlete" title. That's usually a kiss of death...
B)It's been well documented that the writing staff is not wrestling savvy. If they were told to push "new" talent into the main event, they may have taken it far too literally...
C)I just don't see what the complaints are about Shaemus yet. I see no problem with him being champ whatsoever. Do I want a 2 year reign out of him? No. Is there room for his character to develop? God yes. But I don't believe the theory that a character has to be fully flushed out to become champ. In fact, I see the belt as a way *to* develop Shaemus. Realistically, being world champion doesn't mean what it used to mean. In the 80's, it was what a wrestling purist wanted it to be. A symbol of being the best. Now, with title changes every month or two, it could be used to serve a different purpose. Character development and elevation. The "main event" guys are still getting their TV time. DX is still closing the episodes, Cena looks better chasing then being chased, and you're developing a long term tapestry of players to come.
Hell, I say, put the belt on Kofi next. It would cement him as a guy that could hang around the other big boys, and really starts putting a melting pot up top of guys to watch.
Then again, I was laughing at the DX skits tonight, which may mean it's time to look into medication.

New stars getting a push? Isn't this what we wanted to happen? I did want to see new wrestlers getting pushed, however Sheamus and Drew McIntyre are nothing but a couple of bland FCW clones. Evan Bourne and Jack Swagger would be better choices.

Just imagine if the Internet was around in the 1980's, when the mid-card consisted of Tito Santana, Greg Valentine, Jake Roberts, Rick Rude, Bam Bam Bigelow, etc and Dynamite Kid and Bret Hart were "being wasted" in the tag division.

Yeah, when we said we want "new" guys in the main event/title scene we didn't literally mean NEW guys who just got brought up within the past year!
Use the guys that are already established and bring them up. I mean they have a nice long list of credible guys to choose from.

I noticed this as well....I really think Christian, Matt Hardy, Shelton, MVP, and William Regal should be getting the big pushes that the green as grass new guys seeing as they as vetrs have paid their dues so to speak
I'm not complaining too much about Sheamus being champion....I just think they put the belt on him way too soon

Would I like to see him as a WWE champion or world title. But at less he gotten a title. The Miz is being pushed too. Just because there not MEing does mean there not getting pushed. Kingston been feuding with Orton. How is that not a push?
