Anyone else starting to think this is a ratings ploy by NBC? IT'S ALL A WORK! Yeah, I watch way too much wrestling. Then again when this broke on Thursday, it was a rumor, nothing more on Friday and then over the weekend it picked up until confirmed today. Maybe they string it out for a week or so, see the ratings pick up and, then announce that Jay has decided to retire.

Anyone else starting to think this is a ratings ploy by NBC? IT'S ALL A WORK! These are the same people that sacrificed 33% of its prime time programming for Leno. They aren't that smart. As Letterman said, you know NBC is in trouble when Tina Fey is having trouble making fictional TV executives look dumber than real ones.

One cool thing I thought of if Conan went to Fox is they should let him write a new episode of The Simpsons like they did with Ricky Gervais and Seth Rogen. He does have a pitch after all for an episode...

When i first heard of this situation happening i thought of The Late Shift movie right away.Unlike the US apparently, that movie has been shown on HBO Canada over the last few months and is worth watching if given the chance to do so.

If TMZ is correct (a big if considering its friggin TMZ*), then if Conan walks out of this mess and goes to ABC or Fox with a new contract, NBC pays out the remaining of his 4 years/$80 million that isn't covered by his new ABC/Fox contract. Which means if Coco say went to Fox and got paid only a dollar for each of say the next four years, NBC will be forced to pay him $79,999,996. Yes, a network paying that much to a guy who isn't on theirs. ;D Makes you wonder if this has been brewing for a while. I mean reading that on TMZ and his comments on the Simpsons special last night about agrreing to getting paid $1 a year to write for Burns might have been hinting at this.

White All Night on BET sounds like a good idea. Redwolf Village, lol. EDIT: How the HELL is Carson Daly still on the air?

"The Eathquake was so strong that it moved Jay Leno to 11:30." LOL!
I'll admit, at times I do wonder if this is a ratings ploy by NBC but Conan seems legit pissed (yet humble) about the whole situation.

Watching the most recent episode now, pure awesome. "At this rate we won't start the monologue till 12:05" "NBC is set to lose alot of money, I find that hilarious" etc

Over on Letterman Dave was ripping on Leno and being nice to Consey. He came up with a fairly decent ideas. Run Tonight like they do Today, have two hosts, let them trade segments back and forth as Dave says "Jay gets to do his little jokes at 11:30 like he wants". That's actually a cool idea but ego's will never allow it.

I'd hope Max, but if Kevin doesn't there is no one to laugh at Jay's jokes.

Hell, standard Law & Order may as well be in LA anyway with how little understanding they have of the differences between New York and California law half the time.
Not to say I dislike the series. While neither is exactly classic, the standard show and SVU are both decent watches. Criminal Intent is a basically a failed abortion in the Law & Order family, but hey, at least they treat it like one.
But yeah, back to the Leno / Conan thing. Am rather hoping Conan does take the chance to jump to Fox and get them to pay him absolute bottom dollar so he can work on NBC's payroll. Would serve them right, not just for their treatment in this situation for all of their insanely stupid decisions over the years.

EDIT: How the HELL is Carson Daly still on the air? Last Call is on at a very late timeslot, so the fact that most people are in bed prevents from exposing how bland the guy really is- much like how the videos and screaming testimonials were the real highlights of TRL.
