I'm not sure if Leno's trying to save face or if he's legitimately pissed over the way NBC has treated Conan, but if both leave, NBC is SCREWED.

I am wondering what Comcast is thinking about all this? Could it affect the sale?

I am wondering what Comcast is thinking about all this? Could it affect the sale? I think they just got another reason to fire Zucker. I mean its one thing to lose either Leno and Conan, but lose both? Or in best case scenario from the mess so far, keeping one but making him damaged goods for the near future. Man I'm I put "The Late Shift" #1 on my Netflix Que.

That AV Club article that somebody posted earlier claimed HBO hasn't in a long time.
I remember watching it at the time it premiered, but too young to care about filmatics and acting and all that. Just have a vague impression that it was good. Or good in that it was interesting that whole fiasco mess. With Letterman coming off as a victim (if not completely innocent) of all that.

If BOTH are leaving, then Zucker has to get tossed asap. NBC lost more money in the last year than WCW did throughout its entire history. Even if they somehow kept both Leno and Conan, he should still get the boot.

On Gawker (no, I don't usually go to Gawker, I got bored) they took a clip from Late Shift where Leno says, "NBC, stands for Never Believe your Contract!"
Then... a clip from his monologue where he said, "NBC, stands for Never Believe your Contract!"

Here's what I wonder: what started all this - NBC not liking the ratings for Jay and deciding to move him or Jay wanting the Tonight Show back? If it's the former, heads need to roll at NBC over this mess. If it's the latter, then I'm really mad at Jay because he's setting NBC suits up to take the fall for him being a jerk.
Either way, Conan is looking like a million bucks right now.

Ladies and gents, Letterman's take on the whole affair:

Hmmm...the Leno 'show' right now is a pseudo-rerun. The always stale jokes seem similar and wasn't Sandra Bullock on just last month? And not a single reference to CoCo's bold statement. Make of that what you will.

Comedy Central used to show The Late Shift often. Don't think I've seen it on there in at least 7 years. But yeah, I'm sure everyone is gonna Netflix that one now. It's also a book you can check out of your local library, if your library isn't as lame as mine.
And I love how in these situations of corporate incompetence, others not at fault have to take the fall for their stupidity.

Sad thing is, a major debacle involving the Tonight Show isn't new, or even during the "Late Shift" saga. You had a fiasco where in 1960, Jack Paar (hosting TS at the time) got mad because NBC censored his toilet joke (risque!!!) and on live TV (before episodes were recorded) he walked off the show. He returned a month later after NBC caved in.
And he got his toilet joke. Paar, you're my hero. ;D
Paar also technically also hosted the first American TV program to feature the Beatles, months before they appeared on Ed Sullivan.

NBC Local News just told me Conan O'Brien probably won't go to Fox or anywhere else because he's "proven he can't beat Letterman."
Bias much?
