I know. But I'm sure paying him is way more expensive than Poker where the players put up their own money. Oh not saying PAD isn't cheaper, it's just so obviouc Carson's getting edged out slowly. Soon he'll have a wooden spindle and two milk crates for his set.

So you would have walked away from a huge 40+ million dollar contract, and the chance to have a talk show during prime time that many were calling the future of television? Give me a break. I love Conan, and have been a huge fan since the days of Carl Oldie Olson and the Pimp Bot 5000, but there is no way that you can fault Jay for taking the opportunity to have a talk show in prime time. Yes, I can fault him. He doesn't need the money. Plain and simple. He was the king of late night for 18 years, and quite frankly, his shtick is old and busted. He could have made 40 million dollars doing other things. Having a show in vegas, for example. But for you to sit here and say that he isn't a selfish prick, and it's not his fault for all of this is insane. The money doesn't, nor will it ever justify the greed. He made the decision to hand over the keys originally, got cold feet, and now is being a primadonna instead of doing what's right. Actuality he was pressured by NBC to give up the Tonight show because of Conan's threats to go elsewhere if he didn't eventually get moved up. I don't blame Conan for that I blame NBC they should have just let Conan walk or told Jay to take a hike. Now down to business. I honestly don't know how old you are, but you don't seem to understand how things work in the big boy world. If Jay Leno walks away from his contract he is not just ending his job, he would be ending the jobs of countless people who work for him That seems to be something that I think a lot of people are missing. Jay Leno is not just one man he is an industry, and if he quits he essentially putting a lot of people out of jobs including many long time friends that have worked with him for years. So in short this isn't as simple as Jay just walks away into the sun set, and everyone is happy.

Well to be fair they work for NBC not Leno, it's not like they'd suddenly have their jobs evaporate, NBC is always making new shows, and Kevin Eubanks has his own career. Yeah I'm sure they like working for Jay, but more than likely they'd just split the crews onto the Tonight Show and Fallon, or just reassign them to various new tv shows.

And that not even pointing out that a lot of these people don't work for NBC they work for Leno, and Leno's company Big Dog productions.

There are better ways of getting your opinion across than just demoralizing me because you don't agree with what I'm saying. It was that simple once ago, when he was out of his contract and a free agent. So don't give me that. Your argument is pretty much you just being a Leno mark. Also, do me a favor and drum up some proof about Conan forcing his way out of the Late Night spot. I'd love to see where you pulled that piece of information from.

Cracked has a hilarious article on the whole situation ("Updates from Jay Leno’s Facebook Page"). Language is NSFW. Here's an excerpt, the saga of the gray-haired baby and the really tall baby:
At first glance, the two babies would appear to have strictly physical differences, because you’d only be glancing at them. “That baby has gray hair,” you might say, or “The pale baby is taller than the baby with the chin.” However, one of the babies is clearly funnier than the other. The problem is it’s different for whomever you might ask.
Recently, the gray-haired baby gave the really tall baby the best toy in the word because he promised he would four years earlier. Or, like, his soul did or something. Yeah. Four years before he was a baby, the gray-haired baby’s soul promised to give the really tall baby the best toy in the world.
The really tall baby graciously accepted and received the best toy in the world several months ago.
“I regretted it immediately,” said the gray-haired baby. “But I promised, and a promise is a promise is a Buttafuoco Buttafuoco Lewinsky Lewinsky Lewinsky. Sorry, what were we talking about?”
The gray-haired baby demanded he still get a toy to play with, though, so he was given a pity toy...
Unfortunately, the gray-haired baby didn’t play with the toy very well and pretty much broke it. The nursery immediately panicked and scrambled to save the toy. “We wanted to keep that toy for a long time, so we had to take it away before he did any permanent damage,” explained Wickles. “The problem is, the really tall baby was doing fine with the toy he was given. Sure, he was still trying to figure out how to play with it correctly, but at least he didn’t pretty much break it.”
A decision was made to give the gray-haired baby a slightly different toy and to physically alter the really tall baby’s toy, thus making it no longer the best toy in the world. The really tall baby wanted to keep the toy he was given, though, because it was the best toy in the world. The really tall baby decided to not play with any toy at all and might even go to another nursery. The gray-haired baby might now get an unaltered best toy in the world.
“I sure do feel like a huge dick,” the gray-haired baby should probably say but didn’t, because it’s a baby. Instead it just said, “Waaaah!” (because it’s a baby).

I was thinking. Has Joan Rivers been on the Tonight Show since her fall out with Carson? Because I think someone else spurned by their Tonight Show experience (granted, with Rivers she probably didn't take the most prudent measures) as a guest on the Tonight Show w/ ConeBone 69. Also, if they give Conan a "goodbye episode" he should tease like he's gonna give a speech like he gave on his final episode of "Late Night".....Only to walk offstage without saying anything.

Please stop taking things so personally. I didn't mean to insult you but you do seem to lack understanding of the whole situation. Also Leno mark? LOL. As for Conan's contract, and wanting the Tonight Show. When Conan's contract with Late Night ended back in 2004, he said that he would eventually like to move on to bigger and better things, and that he would only sign a new contract if he were given a chance to hos the Tonight Show in a timely manner. In the new contract that NBC made with Conan it said he would go on hosting Late Night until 2009 when the Tonight Show would be turned over to Conan. So basically back in 2004 Conan told NBC to give hi the Tonight Show or he was leaving. I don't fault Conan one bit for wanting to do that. Like I have said over and over I fault NBC for not clearing this mess up by either A. Letting Conan walk in 2004 B. Canceling Leno and being done with him (in which case they still have to pay Leno). C. Ousting Conan and putting Leno back on the Tonight Show. Its a dick move but Conan would still get paid, or he could choose to void his contract and sign someone else. Hope that clears it up a little for you.
