I'm wondering why there was Spanish music in the opening of it. Seemed out of place.
I have to say, I gotta side with the Asian kid here, because I'm sure they don't wanna lose ANOTHER fine Asian girl to another Gaijin.

Because when you get that rare gem it's something special. Like The Thing, Dawn of the Dead and Texas Chainsaw (Yeah I said it! OH BOY) Also, 99% is a bit of a stretch. But she's right. And the Texas Crapfest Remake from Platinum Dunes sucked eight kinds of ass SIDEWAYS. Yes, sideways. THAT's how bad it sucked, IMO. Hell, not JUST in my opinion. I actually think that you'd be in the minority in liking that film, judging from the genuine hostility it (and to a much lesser extent, it's prequel) generated amongst fans of the franchise/character of Leatherface. I mean, I've sat and talked with fans of this film, and even though I'm amazed that they DO like it, they have their reasons. Not saying you're wrong for liking it, but I am saying I have met/spoken to a heck of a lot more people who DIDN'T care for it than those that did. Diffr'nt strokes for diff'rnt folks. ;D Well, if you want to go that route, you can look at imdb.com where it's overall rating is 6.1. Which isn't that great, but hardly suggesting that everyone hates it. Especially if you look at the percentage of people that gave it a fair to decent rating. With 7 being the highest at 21%. Then 6 at 18.5%. Then 8 with 14.5%. Then 5 with 11%. And 10.5% of the people actually gave it a 10. So yeah, different strokes indeed.

IMDB is hardly a place to go for a definitive critical census, especially on horror films. People troll those boards and jack with the ratings on movies just for fun. I wouldn't trust their scores for CITIZEN KANE at this point. And the fact that even ten percent of people gave that movie a ten tells me that some jacking HAS indeed taken place over there. I might buy five percent at that score, but ten? Not a chance.

Is it so hard to believe that some people actually like something that you don't? Besides I'm sure there are plenty of people who troll that place just to give it a 1 rating too. There were plenty of people willing to decry this film just simply based on the fact that it's remake.

They actually say the same sort of thing about TCM 74. "Bleeeh! It's all shakey and low budget looking and not at ALL scarey! I give it a 1! But OMFG, you guys! You haveta go see Paranormal Activity! It's like, the SCARIEST MOVIE EVARRRR!" Like I said, I'm not saying it's impossible that someone could think that the new Texas Chainsaw movies are good (and even that they're better than the original). I'm saying that I've run into far more who have HATED what PD has done to that story and franchise than I have those who were wild about it.

LOL...It also probably didn't help my chances with her any that I started that letter out with "Dear Jessica, I totally love you and want you to have my babies, but you'd look SOOO much hotter if you gained some weight. I mean, you're clothes are practically falling off of you and you've gotten so THIN! Are you eating?" Yeah, I totally came across as a mixture of worried mother and Ed Gein. My fault, that one. ;D

I'll netflix it but that's it.
that kid doesn't have the tenderness of a young Ralph Machhio, and Chan as Mr. Miyagi is lame.
I mean they're in China this time practicing Kung Fu and they call it Karate Kid with Mr. Miyagi?
Why not just remake Kung Fu and call him Quia Chang? Same movie, Chan could play the blind guy.

Actually kinda agree with you on a couple points there, but Chan's name in this is actually Mr. Han. just a little nitpicking there

Technically these aren't the same characters, so it's not a remake. It's like Home Alone 3 or any other franchise that's continuing by sheer concept only. We just live in the age of crappy movie titling where we can't label a sequel properly without adding or subtracting a "The" or just slapping the original title on it.
And I've just exerted way too much thought process on The Karate Kid. More than I ever wanted to.

I really want someone to sweep this kid's leg. Honestly, he's god awful, even by child actor standards.

After watching that I realized that Jaden (or whatever his name is) could pull off a great Riley if they ever decide to make a Boondocks movie. He at least looks the part.

and Texas Chainsaw (Yeah I said it! OH BOY) Eh, TCM is one of the most overrated films of all time anyway IMO (Yes I am talking about the original. Haven't seen the remake) You know, I honestly was expecting to rage a little more. But it doesn't look... too bad. Like, I won't go running to the cinema to see it but it seems more like a "reimaging" then a "remake" (Ala, Nolan's Batman films). And to be honest, I've always liked Chan and he can do no wrong in my eyes. I did laugh at the chopsticks part.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I was thinking that when I first saw him come on the screen. Anyhow, I think this could be a pretty good film. At least better than The Next Karate Kid that had Hilary Swank in it because that movie blew chunks.
