I raided for close to 3 years in World of Warcraft. Now, just the thought of raiding makes me cringe. Me, too. That's why I canceled my subscription. I win the game on the 14th. For me, my biggest "ugh" moment was GTA: SA where your brother gets out of jail, and you're telling him about all the stuff you've got going on, and he gets this "the hood is our home, and you're a terrible person for getting out of it and making something of yourself" attitude, and CJ just says "okay".

EA Sports has lost me as a customer because they are just too damned lazy. Since 2006 I used to buy the new NCAA Football as well as the new Madden. I don't often play with anyone else, but rather I enjoyed the hell out of the franchise/dynasty and superstar/legend modes. No more, however, because EA Sports has willfully chosen to discard me. Our X-box 360 has long since died the red ring of death. I am not buying a new one or a PS3 anytime soon, so my only current generation system is the Wii. Like past years, I bought the '09 versions of NCAA Football and Madden for the Wii. I traded in the NCAA Football a week later. I understand that they wanted to incorporate the unique qualities of the Wiimote, but they completely eliminated the Legend mode and restricted the Dynasty mode to a 10 year career (completely taking away the fun of starting at a small school to win your way into getting hired at a big program school). Granted, I still have the Madden 09 game, even though they did eliminate a few features that I love and I still haven't completely gotten a handle on the passing system (as near as I can tell, the selection of receivers depends on the direction of the routes, who the checkdown receiver is, etc. as opposed to where they line up like previous games). This year, however, they didn't get a dime from me. They did not even make a NCAA Football for the Wii this year, and they eliminated the two modes of play that I actually play in Madden 2010 for the Wii. I mean, what the hell man? It is not as though it was beyond their technical abilities to make the game that I enjoy. They just chose not to produce the game for the best selling console of this current generation of home consoles. Think about that. They did not even try to make the NCAA Football game for the top selling home console of this current generation of consoles. They only produced half of the Madden game that they produced the year before for the same best selling console. It is not as though the Madden 09 sold so poorly to justify not spending much to make the next installment of the series. NCAA Football might have sold that poorly, but that is because games that suck don't sell well, even if it is from a successful and normally very fun series. In short, EA Sports already had a bad rep for being money grubbing and lazy, and to us Wii owners they basically said, "So?" Smurf you, EA Sports. I rented NCAA Football 10 for 360. Just wanted to make my own team since they took out all but the major teams. (No UMaine) You have to either buy the game or buy the slots to use create-a-team. That's a bunch of crap.

Sadly, they are taking down their servers for past incarnations of the game... which really bites. Only allowing us to play 2010 versions of games on Live? And then offering us different abilities and whatever to buy IN GAME? No thank you.

The boss in Dr. Wily's castle on Mega Man 2 where you have to use Crash Man's weapon to destroy the barriers so you can shoot the sentry guns.
You'd better be quick, and have full energy on your weapons, or else it's certainly an "UGH!!!!" moment.
...and of course....Mike Tyson.

You can't really complain about that, well, you can, as it does suck, but it's not going to change any time soon. Simply put, the Wii is meant for more party, more interaction. Sure, there ARE great single player games for the Wii, but that isn't really truly the consoles purpose or intention. You will forever see Sports games dumbed down and Wiimoted on the Wii, because you are the vast minority of people who are looking for a deeper playing experience. They just assume that those looking to go deeper into games would be doing so on one of the other consoles, and they aren't wrong most often. You're a super niche in an already niche market. :\

You'd better be quick, and have full energy on your weapons, or else it's certainly an "UGH!!!!" moment. It's not that bad because when you die and respawn, the sentry guns you've destroyed won't come back. So, basically, if you screw up you can just let them kill you and then you can return with full Crash Bomb ammo. Of course, you need a few lives for this to work, but Wily's castle is full of spots where you can easily grind for 1-ups.

X-Men Legends II: Whenever there are too many sprites on the screen, the game freezes and makes an annoying sound. The only remedy I found was to unequip everything and place it in the storage container for a while.

Trying to actually beat X-ATM092, the giant mechanical spider in Final Fantasy VIII. I hit the damn thing with The End at one point and with three Meteors at another, and it still fixed itself on both occasions. My timing was probably off because I cast those spells just as X-ATM was dragging itself up, but I didn't expect it to totally no-sell them. Love FFVIII, but...how the hell did you have Selphies 'The End' in Dollet? Did you grind or can it just appear in her Limit attacks like most random spells can?

Yeah, it can appear in the Limit attack list. Of course, the chances of it appearing are extremely slim at that point in the game because your levels are so low.

Personal Urgh Moment: Back in the glory days of FFVII my mate had it and we working through it together whenever I went round to his house. Then we got to Demon's Gate. God almighty, that guy was a SOB to fight. We decided to grind up some Limit Breaks, and finally got "Gigadunk", Vincent's Lvl 2 Limit. Safe to say, Vincent pretty much wtfpwned Demons Gate to the stone age, and forever gave me my name for WoW, CS:Source etc ;D

Plus, EA, and damn near every other hardcore game developer, has little to no incentive to make hardcore games for the Wii anymore. Why? Because no one is buying them. Take for example, EA's Dead Space Extraction for the Wii. Great rail shooter, a game made from the ground up on the system for hardcore gamers. It sold only 10,000 copies in its first month. Let that sink in. The hardcore gamers themselves aren't buying the hardcore games on the system, so why the f*** bother? Hell, to add even more insult to injury, they pretty much took the Wii version of Madden 10 and released it onto the PS3 and 360's download marketplaces a few months later with a few new gameplay tweaks, buffed the graphics up to HD quality, and called it Madden NFL Arcade. But yeah, you want someone to blame for the fall in quality of EA's sports games on the Wii? Blame the people (not) buying the games.

To be fair, a lot of that comes from the fact that most developers make no real effort to build or promote games for the Wii. They can sell, but for the most part people just dump them to the system without a word - for instance, I had never even heard of this Dead Space game you mentioned until just now. Non-Nintendo games can sell, though. No More Heroes is a good example - a game that sold horribly in Japan and wasn't made by Nintendo, with no intentions to make a sequel even if it did sell well there, but it did so well here that it's getting both a sequel and a 360 and PS3 port.

No More Heroes sold 470,000 copies since release. That, honestly, is a total bomb on the PS3 or 360. A solid FIRST MONTH on those systems, but for life time sales it is a bomb. On the Wii, however, life time sales like that is good. Also, it is only getting a 360 and PS3 port cause the publisher in Japan wanted more money from the game. And also, trust me, they do advertise Wii games, I've actually seen more ads for Wii games in 2009 than PS3 or 360 games. The irony? All the games I saw ads for bombed.
