What is it about us wrestling fans that we like the idea of the smaller guy legit beating up the larger guy. Its like when Joey Styles supposedly beat up JBL. Well, for one thing, the stories tend to paint the bigger guy as a bully. People like hearing about bullies getting their comeuppance.

One time, Chavo Guerrero got pissed off at the Big Show for doing something, and went right up to him and was about ready to fight him. RVD talked about that on his radio show, and said that if you're mad and you're willing to fight about it, it doesn't matter how big you are. Big Show didn't want to fight him, and I don't think he was intimidated, but he just didn't want to fight.
Again, it could also be just a story, but like with the JBL incident (and to be fair, Joey Styles didn't "beat him up", he just punched him in the face and knocked him over). But, hearing about what guys go through in Japan, you really work your way through the business.
The best story I heard was from some older wrestlers, I forget who told the story. But, there was this new guy who came into the locker room, and he was really big. And, he was asked who he wanted to wrestle that night. So, he choose the smallest guy in the room, who was Danny Hodge. So, Danny Hodge shot on him and stretched him out when they were in the ring. So, the story is believable.
This might not be true, but I remember hearing about Bob Backlund back in the day used to get harassed a lot for being clean, or something like that. So, when people would challenge him to a fight, Bob would pretty much tie the guys up in knots. Of course, who can forget when Jericho front face locked a pissed off Goldberg, kept him from doing anything, and calmly said, Bill, I want to try and make money with you.

I read it as a rumor someone started to try and get the belt off him. I mean the second quote says the idea was to get the story to Vince and, hopefully, get the title off of him. The way it reads to me as a rumor killer

JBL's shiner attests to that. Except that it was a cheap shot while a bunch of other people were holding JBL back. But everyone likes to leave out that part of the story.

But everyone likes to leave out that part of the story. What about the part of the story that JBL was being a dick to Joey for awhile before Joey did it. Whether JBL could have beaten up Joey Styles is irrelevant. He still punched him in the face and made him look bad.

Punching a guy in the face when he's being held back isn't really a hero move though.

But everyone likes to leave out that part of the story. Where exactly was this "Joey beat the crap out of JBL" story reported? PWinsider broke the story, but never claimed he beat him up for a prolonged period of time. Likewise f4w and WON both reported that it was one punch, which laid him out and was still majorly embarressing for Layfield. He did floor him with a punch. That was what I was referring to.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it came out that the story was completely fake. It did. It was shot down as hogwash by Hamada herself, I believe. That and even if it were true,Hamada could probably kick the crap out of him but whether it was true or false, Yoshi's got a wife and a kid now (I saw them at an FCW show). That does not mean anything Except he did. That wasn't made up. JBL's shiner attests to that. Except that it was a cheap shot while a bunch of other people were holding JBL back. There is no such thing as a cheap shot. It's tactical advantage.

Nope, not buying it. Yoshi's reaction would seem to indicate there may some truth to it. You believe the quote is real? It doesn't actually sound like "the lockerroom made up this story and is trying to get it to Vince." I read it as "there's this story going around, and their trying to get into Vince."

What I'm saying about Yoshi having a wife and kid is that he probably has a different outlook on life then he did when he and Hamada were in Japan. But, if it was stated as being not true, then it's even more irrelevant.

Finding out the shakes contained ICOPRO would make the story even better. I came in here just for the ICOPRO joke. Curses... foiled again!
