I gotta think if JBL wasn't being held back, Styles would have been broken in half. Yeah, surprise punch or not, lose the element of surprise and he's, what, like 70 pounds lighter? I don't like his odds.

So, in order to remain champion, Sheamus must break into Yoshi's hotel room one night and rip his head off to avenge his pride.

Why do people think Sheamus is some unbeatable guy? Just because he is 'like big and muscular and stuff'.
One good punch to the jaw and the other guy goes down. If you have a martial arts background (or boxing as Yoshi is supposed to have according to the storty) it's pretty easy to beat the f*** out of someone who doesn't have that background.
If Yoshi is a boxer, who came from the new japan dojo. And Sheamus is a bodybuilder who has little wrestling experience. Who do you think has the disadvantage and will lose the fight?

What is it about us wrestling fans that we like the idea of the smaller guy legit beating up the larger guy. Its like when Joey Styles supposedly beat up JBL. I'm sure it started in the Russo era in the year 2,000. He started the whole "let the mid-carders take the main event spots!" stuff, and also that in turn started the whole "let the underdog beat the established guy" stuff. To this day, people get off on wanting to see an "underdog" guy get the better of a "main" guy, even if you go so far as to confuse reality with fantasy, like getting off on Sheamus getting beat up in real life because of his wrestling character. So with that said, If Batista beat up Chavo, you won't find much reporting on it, and no one would post it, but If Chavo beat up Batsita, it would be evreywhere. To this day, it's the reason why everyone will support an "up and comer" but as soon, and I mean as soon as, one of them steps up to the main event, the internet as a whole will turn on them. This doesn't mean that individuals will change their minds, no, it means that people who supported the guy will keep quiet and all of the people who already hated him will come out of the woodwork in their posts, not being able to resist their urge anymore to vent their frustrations. I would have to disagree about the Batista beating up Chavo thing. I think that would be all over the place, being that it's a story where one guy legit beat up another guy. I understand the reasoning behind thinking it would be the opposite, but I'm pretty sure that would be newsworthy in itself. I also have to ask, why is it so unbelievable that Yoshi couldn't beat up a guy bigger then him. Sure, he looks like a cute little guy, but I'm sure he's not one to mess with. Not saying, oh, the story is definitely true, but whether it's true or not, why is it hard to believe that Yoshi couldn't throw down.

People have always loved a good underdog story, it goes all the way back to the story of David and Goliath. This particularly story sounds plausible enough, but who knows.

And Sheamus is a bodybuilder who has little wrestling experience. Incredibly, despite the fact that Sheamus is getting a push in WWE, and that the IWC despises him, this actually isn't true.

I'll have to chime in here as well. Sheamus has been wrestling for a good while, and built up a reputation I do believe over in Ireland before getting signed, and a lot of his past promo pictures is a sign of that. It sucks that he's hated, because the guy has boatloads of talent.

From what I can tell, the majority of folks on here seem to like Sheamus, but those who don't are a lot more vocal about it. But then, that's standard fare, isn't it?

I feel its about 50/50 on the board. Like you said, those who don't have been more vocal, but recently it seems like more people have come to his defense.

I don't think most of the people calling BS on the story say that because they think Yoshi wouldn't win in a fight, I think it's because the story sounds so random. Yoshi and Sheamus get into a fight over a protein shake mixer, Sheamus throws it at Yoshi who goes super kung fu and catches it one handed then beats him up. And Ted Dibiase jr. is there for some reason. Also people want Vince to hear it in hopes of him taking the belt of Sheamus. Like I sai before, the story sounds like a mad lib. *blank* and *blank* get in a fight over *blank* with the most random names and stuff thrown in.

Sounds like the premise to a wacky sitcom.

It's just too random and the fact that Dibiase is just "there" without any involvement makes it even more far-fetched. Oh, and the IWC hate for Sheamus kind of disappoints me. The guy's been working his tail off for years in the wrestling business even before he got to the WWE; don't let personal opinions about someone dictate facts.

I'm not sure i get the random nature of it. All three guys were in development together. All three probably drink protein shakes and Sheamus could be a bully. Plus they don't make much money off devo so they room together. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. The only part that sounds funny is catching something that is thrown at you and in reality it is funny, but not the ice breaker. Throw something at me from across the room and i'll probably catch it. Regardless, if the story is real or fake i still got a good laugh out of it because of the contrast and Yoshi being involved.

Or maybe its just because some people like Sheamus, but think that this Championship push could have been given to someone more established who's worked their ass off just as hard, hell even harder, than Sheamus. That's not to say people wouldn't like him as a champion someday, but the time where WWE booked themselves into a corner because the current failed sitcom writers were/are idiots for the most part and can't plan for s***aki mushrooms were throwing darts at a board to pick a guy for Cena to face for the Royal Rumble and Triple H just happened to be high on this guy for like 2 weeks....yeah, that wasn't the right time. Wait, I can't say shitaki mushrooms?
