Do you have a link to the interview? Maybe the quote was taken out of context.
(Batista is my favorite wrestler so I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.)

Why exactly is he not allowed to say this? Considering none of the ''Young Talent'' has managed to get into the ME as fast as Tista with fan support(Sheamus) that pretty much confirms he's got something going for him that they don't Because Batista is claiming to have been in this business for a long time and knows the ropes. Does he know how things go down? Yes. Is he one of the many experts in the back? No. He may have found success in the WWE, there is no denying that. But, you can deny the fact that he's had a huge impact via storylines and promos. To state that the future is in trouble because the new talent aren't good at cutting promos and telling stories (which is debatable) is asinine. Take a look back at when Batista was a newcomer in the WWE. He wasn't good on the mic, either! Newcomers learn the ropes on how to cut promos and tell a good story in time, not immediately. To judge their future status by their rookie careers as of right now is ludicrous. Batista does know how things go down, and I'd say he is an expert. He learned from Flair and HHH, so he definately has something to pass on. He's not talking about cutting promos - even though he does know how to cut a good one. People get too hung up on catchphrases and thinks that everyone has to be like Rock on the mic to be good on the mic. Well, that was Rock's thing. His gimmick was that he was an entertainer. Batista is the silent bad-ass type, and acheives more just by saying 'Hunter, I've known what I was gonna do for a loooong time' than he does by cutting a 10 minute monologue laden with catchphrases, because that's what his character is. When he has been asked to cut a longer promo, it's supposed to be serious, like his spotlight one earlier this month, and he's delivered it well. But that's not what he is talking about. He's talking about telling a story, which includes how he carries himself, how he works, how he reacts, all the subtle nuances - and that he does know. If anything, Batista with the physique he has getting to the main event and staying there shows this. Out of all the guys that have great looking bodies, it's Batista that's learnt the game enough to stay on top.

I thought it was a well known fact at this point that Batista is one of the most frustrated performers on WWE.

One things been needling me about all of this.
Batista got REALLY damn lucky in that HHH took a shine to him. Before Evolution he was the Lackey to Reverend D-Von & a "Monster from the Ohio River". In the last year he's been injured longer than he's been active, (Possibly wrong, but don't worry I'm on a roll).
I'm sorry, nothing about his time gives him anything like the right to claim Veteran-hood, he may know what to do, and by that I mean he found a way to latch on to the biggest fish in the pond (HHH) and has enough of a marketable look to insert himself into high profile feuds.
Hell, If he weren't so injury prone and didn't have everything HANDED to him in spite of said injuries I don't think i9t would be so bad.

In current WWE where the mid-card matches rarely last longer than 5 minutes (which is where the vast majority of the roster is) and everything is overly scripted, its not like they get much of a chance to tell a story any way.

Best point of the thread so far! And I highly doubt Batista is in the Gorilla position taking notes on all the undercard matches anyway.

I like Batista, have done for years, but this seems a bit of a silly thing to say. He's putting himself up there to be shot at and won't be a difficult target.
You wouldn't get someone like Taker badmouthing the younger talent in the press.

Of all of the "vets" in the locker room, I think Batista has no room to talk. Now the Undertaker and Jericho, I could understand. But Batista? Come on . . . My thoughts exactly, Batista can't even cut a decent promo! He can, but it's very rare. And yeah I agree with the first sentiment. Dave is no veteran like HBK, Y2J, or Taker.

Jericho, hbk, and Kane have said the same thing in off the cuff interviews so I have no qualms about this

We also have to look at whether or not he was able to put someone over and give them the rub with his apparently vast experience...I can't seem to think of any for some reason.

This guy doesn't just welcome unpopular responses, he encourages them.
He's kinda right, but still, he's got some kahones to do an interview stating it.

Considering none of the ''Young Talent'' has managed to get into the ME as fast as Tista with fan support(Sheamus) that pretty much confirms he's got something going for him that they don't Because it's destructive. It doesn't help the young talent improve; it makes the fans focus on their shortcomings; it ruins backstage morale. Plus, it's not true. Morrison, Kofi, Miz, Sheamus, McIntyre, Ryder . . . all of them can cut promos, play their characters and tell stories. I'm much more interested in them and their feuds than I am in Batista.
