Ok on Ecks coloum at the BS his wrestler of the decade is non other than Triple H himself Now I could post a number of reasons why that is not so whether its his horrible ratings as champ, His squashing of potential and popular stars who were getting over, His constant headlining of the wrestlemania main event or the fact the guy can barley move in the ring now due to all his quad injuries but I wont and just wonder what other peoples opinions are?? Anyway link here weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/wrestling/blog/2010/01/wrestler_of_the_decade_no_1.html

2000 had horrible ratings? Who do you think Rock was trading the title with? Remember, every sold out show, every headline PPV match, every ticket sale isn't just for one guy. You're only as good as your opponent. Rock vs Billy Gunn is pretty much proof Rock doesn't deserve full credit for his work being successful.

But again, to count those things, you also have to count the doldroms of 2002-2003, wherein EVERY Monday night, the main event was HHH, and ratings tanked.

The Rock can't take all the credit for the huge ratings of 2000. But he was certainly more responsible for those huge ratings than Triple H. And I would mention every crappy Triple H feud we have seen over the last 10 years to counter your Rock Vs Billy Gunn one but there are far too many.

WWE Wrestler of the Decade? Wrestler of the decade period. Angle was number 5 on the list.

I agree, he has been great for 8 of the 10 years. Nobody else can claim that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Triple H is some infallible God, but he's certainly not as terrible as people act like he is. It's like Hogan, really: when you are on top for some long, you have a lot of good times, but you'd have to be naive to think it's not also going to be filled with a lot of bad angles and feuds, too. Triple H has been in the main event for about a decade, so while he has vs Steiner to be ashamed of, the other main eventers have some skeletons in their closets, too. Even the biggest Taker fan would blush at mention of Fakertaker or Giant Gonzales. How about Austin peeing on Arn Anderson or having a drinking contest with Bischoff? What about HBK failing to make a match with Mr. Perfect of all people interesting, then tagging with God years later? Triple H has had some serious lowpoints, especially when they had no one decent to throw his way, but it comes with the territory is all I'm trying to say.

If we're going by decade, with all that happened, I guess the main choices would be Triple H, Kurt Angle, Jericho, Undertaker, Kane, Big Show, or HBK. Rock and Austin were at points active, but much of their success was in '98-'00. Both only were in active competition for 2-3 years tops in this decade.
Brock is also a notable contender, but he only really wrestled for like 3 years before leaving.

As much as I dislike Triple H, I'd tend to agree. For better or worse, no one really has been on top consistently as long as Triple H has. Angle's move to TNA probably hurt his exposure a bit. Austin hasn't been in the ring for a while, Rock went to Hollywood and Cena's really only been on top for the last half of the decade. The only close contender I can really see is The Undertaker, but age and injuries have kinda slowed him down over time.

If it was WWE wrestler of the decade I can't see it being anyone other than Trips. He's been main eventing and having good matches for 10 years with few breaks in between.
If it was wrestler period, in WWE AND out, it'd have to be Angle though. His work in TNA as well as WWE puts him at the top.

I agree with this.
He's been the only constant in Wrestling, not just WWE, this decade. Let's see: Rock left, Austin left, Angle was alright, Jericho left in periods, Edge wasn't there all decade, Cena wasn't here for half of it, Lesnar bailed, Lashley left, Kennedy was a bust, Foley tarnished his legacy, Orton wasn't here for half of it, Benoit did whatever the hell you want to call it I don't care anymore, Eddie died, Big Show wasn't all that big, Golberg left, Taker has had injury issues, Kane is always yoyoed, Punk wasn't here for half of it, Jeff didn't make a big impact until the last 2 years, Christian hasn't made it big yet, RVD got busted, HBK wasn't here for the first 2 years and Booker T wasn't all that big.
There's only been one constant, and despite all the poliKliqing, sucking up, and HHHate...Triple H has been the only constant Wrestling has been able to depend on since 2000.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree that HHH was the wrestler of the decade. I really want to jump in with the usual "LET"S BASH HHH GUYS!!!" but I think I will hold myself back in this thread that is supposed to be towards him winning this honor.

Austin hasn't been in the ring for a while, Rock went to Hollywood and Cena's really only been on top for the last half of the decade. The only close contender I can really see is The Undertaker, but age and injuries have kinda slowed him down over time. More like no one has had the luxury of being on top for 10 years consistently as Triple H has. Hes always featured in and around the title belt or the top spot on the card. Its not as though Triple H really deserved a 10 year run on top. Its all a work and his positioning and getting married to the boss' daughter helped or he probably would have had a few years run on top and then phased out a bit. No way he would have had as many runs with the strap as he has had. Hes almsot stil the focus of the show with Shawn and they are just the tag champs. So that kind of shows ya. Angle could have had a 10 year run at the top. But he couldnt get the time off and he was constantly injured for sure. Lesnar had he chose no to go to MMA etc. Just because Triple H has been fed down our throats for 10 years doesnt mean that he SHOULD be. And you can argue for someone who has been on top and pushed as long and hard as he has Triple H SHOULD BE the best of the decade. Hes had the luxury of this based on his fueds and the way he is booked. Yet you can argue Taker, Shawn, maybe Edge still overtakes him. Heck maybe even Cena considering Cena is the master merchandise seller these days and arguably the most over still
