Tommy said in his WWE Universe blog a few months back that he has no intention of retiring anytime soon, so he probably figures he can make enough money in TNA or the indies.

I wonder what is going to happen to the "History of ECW" on 24/7 if Dreamer does indeed leave.

I wonder what is going to happen to the "History of ECW" on 24/7 if Dreamer does indeed leave. The Tazz hosted episodes just ended what, three or 4 weeks ago? They probably have enough with Dreamer for a year or so, then they can switch to Joey.

I would love if ECW ends by having Dreamer beat Christian for the ECW title on the last episode. Dreamer announces his retirement and then leaves.

Dreamer needs to be in the main event of the last ECW broadcast. Let him put someone over or win the title. I don't care. Either way, the ECW brand needs to end with Tommy in my opinion. If he does work the indies after this, I'm game for one last Raven/Dreamer match. The ECW reunion shows are supposed to be done with, but with those two headlining I suspect a promoter could put another one together and do well.

we'll finally get that Tommy Dreamer/Hulk Hogan v. RVD/Sabu match that we've always wanted.
Or Tommy is going to leave the WWE to devote more time to having sex with his wife.

TOMMY DREAMER UPDATE by Mike Johnson @ 7:00 PM on 12/21/2009
Tommy Dreamer is backstage at the Raw taping in Tampa, Florida and made a scheduled autograph signing appearance this afternoon with Mickie James.
The belief among the wrestlers is that tonight is Dreamer's last night on the road with the company.

I'd be surprised if TNA wasn't in his future. Why else would he ask to be released from a well-paying contract? To go work at Target with Shane Douglas? Please.

It is surprising, due to apparently him being really loved. For awhile, Dreamer was the head of developmental, during which, he used his role to rib some of the younger wrestlers by making them feel really uncomfortable. Mr. Kennedy told a story where he thought Tommy hated him, but Tommy just talked in a monotone voice all the time to people.
Anyway, Tommy Dreamer is one of my current favourites in WWE. Dreamer has put on some great matches in the past few years, and even though he's on the low rated bastard child of WWE programming, he's still extremely (no pun intended) over. I think a TNA would be great for Tommy, and I know it was mocked earlier, he might actually be given a chance to finally shine.
Also, Tommy told Raven one time that if he knew he was going to die of a terminal illness, he would want Raven to kill him in the ring, because it would be more hardcore and ECW like, then just dying of said illness.

Just watching this match and Styles, Tazz & King are getting really really heated while JR is trying to keep things together. Do you think this is all totally scripted or is some of it legit? I don't know but that WWE vs ECW special was probably one of my most favorite shows ever between the matches and the dueling commentary and such. I really wish we could get that special on DVD somehow, including Edge nearly breaking his neck (which I think was edited out when that match was put on one of the ECW compilation DVDs).

I met him last month when the WWE did their annual toy drive with the US Marines. He looked bored out of his mind, checking his phone, and ignoring most of the children looking to meet some WWE Superstars.
Maybe his heart isn't in it anymore?

Considering that when his "I'll win the ECW championship by Extreme Rules or retire" angle started back in January, the vast majority of us shrugged and went "huh, guess Dreamer's leaving", I don't think this is very shocking. He's clearly been a very low priority at WWE for a long time, and the fact that he got a title run at all was a nice gesture.

Wouldn't it be funny if Dreamer went the Charlie Haas route?
Dreamer: "Dude! I want out!" Vince: "Dude! You're gettin a raise!" Dreamer: "SWEET!"

Just watching this match and Styles, Tazz & King are getting really really heated while JR is trying to keep things together. Do you think this is all totally scripted or is some of it legit? Wow. I completely forgot how vicious they were to each other... It was scripted, but probably had a lot of truth behind it. Joey's not exactly a 100% "wresting business" guy, he just liked ECW (and doesn't mind the paycheck he's getting these days behind the scenes). And Tazz I'm sure still has some old resentment from the late 80's - 90's wrestling that he rallied against in ECW, and he got to rip some of that out from the recesses of him mind. Cripes. Tommy's probably done. It would be nice to give him a "sendoff" but realistically, that only happens for the finest of the finest, and Tommy's just not in the class anywhere outside Philly. He might go to TNA, just to hang out with the Dudleys, but what in god's earth is this talk about him being "used properly"? Tommy was the most overglorified jobber in the history of pro wrestling, and he wears that as a badge of pride. For God's sake, he had a 3 year feud with a wrestler that he didn't win a single match until the last one. Right before he won his first ECW title (off of Tazz, due to the whole "Mike Awesome" incident), he was quoted as saying he never wanted to be champion, because that wasn't his role in the company. Tommy was there to entertain, not to boost his character's value. He understood you could gain fans by losing if you knew how to do it. And honestly, I'd rather not see him associate with this incarnation of ECW, because frankly, it's not even remotely the same, and it makes me sad that it's still called ECW. OVW would be more appropriate. If he goes to TNA, like I said, he'll hang out with the Dudleys, we'll have a few good moments, and he'll disappear again. If he doesn't, he still had a much richer career than any of us imagined once ECW closed down. He'll be missed, but his time has passed.

Well with the rumored ECW name switch in the new year it seems appropriate that the last of the old guard would leave and let the new guard fully take over.
I hope he does end up in TNA. I wouldn't mind seeing Dreamer vs Raven one more time.
I wonder what happened though that made him so willing to leave after just signing a new contract? And they obviously don't value him much if they let him out that easily.
