If Lindsey Jacobellis wins, I riot.
I do believe that a person has a chance to redeem themselves for bad decisions or whatever, but she still comes across as very very smug and it's almost as if she's STILL not acknowledging how big of an embarassment she was in 2006 to not only herself but to her country. I can't stand when IDIOTS never ever realize they are IDIOTS.

Switzerland wins first gold, for ski jumping. At least that's what the CTV site tells me, if they can actually fix their page.

Oh yes, because it couldn't possibly be the fault of the idiot who designed the track and had that sharp turn right next to a short wall right before the end. * * = directed at the IOC, not you, Ani.

I hope after the games they dismantle that track and make a newer safer one. Would be the only good solution.

Is it just me or is this event getting a little goofy already with some of the bans that are taking place. I just saw two stories that made me roll my eyes. One was a US Skiier who's husband can't watch he perform because some bureaucrat failed on the paper work. Then there is a Japanese snowboard who wasn't allowed to take part of the openning ceremony because his shirt was untucked. I'm sorry but this all seems kind of petty.
Oh and did you know that Sidney Crosby is part of the US Woman's Hockey Team? It says so on Yahoo's front page right now.

Well....the Japanese snowboarder was being a little bit of a punk. I don't think he should've been pulled from the opening ceremony cause of how he dressed, but what he said definitely was more than enough to keep him out of the ceremony. He said that the Winter Olympics were no different than the Winter X Games. That is a slap in the face of the Olympics comparing it to an extreme sports contest. Then again, what can you expect? A lot of the Olympic snowboarders are regulars in the Winter X Games, and most of them probably feel the same, just they were smart enough to keep their mouth shut.

I just watched the run that ended with the Georgian luger's death on NBC's website.
Holy crap. That is disturbing. I watched the whole run and I was thinking, "God, he's really moving." Then it just happened in a blink of an eye.
They really need to rethink that whole investigation.

Is it bad that I cheered when the two South Koreans wiped out on the final turn during the speedskating competition?
I only cheered because it meant that Apolo Anton Ohno medalled.

No, because I laughed at them. Their own damn fault since one got greedy. Thought he was gonna take out all 3 of them. I'm glad Ohno got his medal, but I was also glad for the younger American getting a bronze after his nearly fatal accident a few months ago.

Just saw the video of the Georgian luger's fatal crash.
The IOC has to do more than just putting up a wooden plank. You're kidding me.

He was more of a sidenote to Apolo getting the vast majority of the glory in the pre-race coverage.

Hah! The US edges out Canada for a silver medal, for their own first gold and bronze at the Moguls. My chaotic Quebecois-ness laughs at the situation.

It was very close, and a good run by the American winner. What bothers me is that chick who came in 3rd place acting like a damn kid, both when she finished her run and when her colleague won the gold. Running around with the flag like SHE won the thing... Call it Canadian patriotism if you will, just that woman bothers me. The woman who won first, however? Well done, and well deserved. Canada will have to wait another day for it's first gold at home.

Here's the story on it. seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/olympics/2011004461_celski07.htmlNearly severed the femoral artery. So it was a feel good story for him to be even there, let alone get a bronze medal.
