This is what I used in the Summer ones. | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Total | United States | X | X | X | X |
I am as patroitic as the next guy. But if you look at the history of the olympics, the US almost always wins the metal race, with some exceptions. Of course, most of those years it was the Russians. I would just once like to see a country like Bulgaria dominate the olympics. I think NORWAY has the most Winter Olympic medals ever. I think that's pretty much along the lines of what your analogy is looking for. So yes, poetic justice indeed. I love and respect most of the participants from every country around the globe, but doggone it, I want my country to win the Winter Olympics medal count, especially since they haven't done it (at least not since WWII, I think), so I really don't follow your disappointment in U.S. "hogging" any spotlights. (And I thought China beat U.S. in medal count two years ago in the SUMMER games, so there's another reason for why I don't get your line.)

Ok, from the west coast feed. Why are they declaring Apollo Ono's silver as a giant killing triumph? The koreans had his ass beat until an accident at the last possible second.

I like to see people win but I don't like to see them win too much. Hence why many people hate the Yankees, Tom Brady, and Jimmy Johnson. China did have more Gold but US had more metals at Beijing, 100 to 110. We had the most gold and metals at Athens, Sydney, Atlanta (where Kurt Angle won with a broken freakin' neck.) In Barcalona the US didn't lead because 18 countries were combined as Independant Olympic particpants following the fall of the Soviet Union. You see what I mean. We win too much.

Because of the almost impossible to prove, but very prevalent practice in speedskating of countries skating together in individual relays. The worst part is, the Koreans did have him beat until they got a bit greedy at the end. Their wipeout on the final turn gave me a case of the LOLZ, and the two Americans took silver and bronze, which made me happy.

sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Canada-sets-record-18-0-as-women-s-hockey-face?urn=oly,219527 I don't know who is writing this blog,( personally I mean, of course I can read their name.) but they have to be the biggest sissy in the world. If Slovaka doesn't want to be embarassed 18-0 by the Canadian women, maybe they should work on their goaltending. If other countries want to compete against the US and Canadian women, try putting some effort into your teams. As for a mercy rule, are the Canadian women suppose to just stand there with a wide open shot and no defender in their zip code? Is it her fault the goalie couldn't stop her shot if she does decide not stand there and wait for the other team to show up? Would it be more classy if they just did laps around the ice like NES Ice Hockey? We are getting into this soft, soccer mindset where everything is a tie, no one wins, no one loses, no feelings hurt, everyone gets a gold and a orange slice. Blagh!

I think this a great event. The announcers are doing a good job of telling us what is going on and selling this. If only the announcers on Raw were as effective.

This is more like the original Dream Team, who's opponents asked the for autographs after the game. I hope the Chinese women learn something and work on their hockey program as a result. They have 1 billion people. I'm sure they can find one woman who can tend goal.

God, remember when America was the center of female figure skating?
