For the first four seasons the Yellow Bastard was un-f***ing-touchable, the Rock Bottom episode is a classic to this very day.
I haven't been watching all that many of the newer episodes, but most of the ones I've seen have just been...I don't even know how to put it, but I'll just say this: you know something's off when the designated dickhead Squidward is the most likeable character on the show.
I understand most of the original writers left for other projects but damn, is it that hard to maintain the basic idea of a show?

I think it's always been wildly entertaining. It's so freaking bizarre and obscure.

Once his voice got higher it really started to irritate me to even watch the show.

It still has it's moments, but it does shock me that it's still around after over a decade.

I watched for the first time in ages earlier. I don't knew if it was new but I think it was, and it was pretty good.

I've always hated this show. I've wanted to kill Spongebob SOOOOOO badly since the first episode. Even as a kid, I recognized Spongebob as being a 100% total dick. He constantly f***s Squidward over. Squidward is presented as being a prick, but in all honesty, if YOU had to deal with Spongebob every day, you'd be like Squidward as well.
I mean Spongebob's made it to where Squidward can't even move, cause he can't sell his house. No one wants to live next to Spongebob.

I'm not as spiteful to the show as I once was after the new era started (after the movie hit) but I still prefer the older episodes (1999-2003) as they have some of the greatest cartoons in my generation.
You haven't lived until you've heard The Ugly Barnacle.

if it had a tiny tim song, in its pilot episode, and its managed to stay on a decade plus, it has to be good. "Big Pink Loser" and "Bubble Buddy" is probably the best pairng of episodes in the series.
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of continuty after the movie? Why isn't he the manager of the Krusty Krab 2?

"Spongehenge" remains the show's best episode.
Jed Shaffer ~I'll take Fairly OddParents over SpongeBob anyday, though. Or, even better, Disney shorts and Road Runner cartoons.

"Help Wanted" remains the best episode, and only because of Tiny Tim.
Spongebob and "legend" don't belong in the same sentence otherwise.

Spongebob from the second Season to the movie were great. First Season was alright, but the writers really found the perfect style after that.
After the movie, it went back to being more for kids. I know its always been a "kid show", but anyone who actually watched the show before the movie, saw that it was actually a very funny/clever show, and the jokes had some actual substance...

As an old-school Nick-Toons fan, who loved the original Ren and Stimpy, Doug, Rugrats, and even Rocco's Modern Life... I've never been able to get the whole Spongebob phenomenon.
My only guess is that it came out right as I was getting to the age where I stopped watching Nickelodeon, and the network seems to have gone straight down to hell in the years since Spongebob arrived on their schedule.

I started falling out of interest with Spongebob when it began to fall back on the same recycled plots and cliches that all cartoons seemingly get caught up in.

My 2 year old nephew can be bawling his head off, and Sponge Bob comes on, and it like hypnotizes him.

It'll be a legend whether it has gone downhill or not. Like Hulk Hogan, it was as huge as cartoons can really get. The fact it's been relevent for what, 11 years? That is incredibly impressive in a medium where you're lucky to get a second season.

My 2 year old nephew can be bawling his head off, and Sponge Bob comes on, and it like hypnotizes him. My 2 year old niece is the same way. One day she woke up in a super pissed off mood. not willing to anything or talk to anyone. But when she noticed spongebob was on. She just sat down in her chair and shut up. Then when the show was over she was in a great mood. My little girl was born in 99. We've been watching spongebob together her entire life. The one when sandy the squirrel is hibernating is still my favorite episode. And now that the little girl is 10 (scary thought) we can have funny conversations about it like. "How come Squidward practices the clarinet every day but never gets any better?
