I just don't like Seth MacFarlen. He comes off as the annoying kid who thinks he's SOOOOOOOO funny and tries too hard all the goddamn time. He's irritating.

I don't understand the point of complaining about cartoons when you could just turn them off altogether if they bother you that much.

I don't understand the point of complaining about cartoons when you could just turn them off altogether if they bother you that much. Couldn't you use that argument for criticizing anything at all? Why complain about a meal when you don't have to eat it? Complain about a product you don't have to own? Complain about a game you don't have to play? Complain about a thread that you don't have to read? Why bother with expressing opinions at all, then? You don't have to listen to them.

I think tonight's episode of "Family Guy" tried way too hard.
Maybe all of the ranting about the non-sequiturs, cutaway gags, pop-culture references, one-liners and lack of storyline finally got to Seth MacFarlane and the writers of "Family Guy". I think this was Seth MacFarlane's way of saying, "See what I did? We can be heavy at times! We don't have to rely on cutaways!"
They tried way too hard to prove a point with tonight's episode. I thought it started off relatively harmlessly, but it took a hard left after the first commercial break, and by the time it was over, it was just...boring.
"Family Guy" is not the kind of show that people watch because of its depth and perspective on society. I commend MacFarlane and the writers for making an effort, but they went at it the wrong way, and simply put, they tried too hard, and in my opinion, it blew up in their faces.

Totally Agreed I'm not in the "OMG FAMILY GUY JUMPED TEH SHARK CANCEL IT NOW" bandwagon. While I do commend Seth and Co for trying something different, it just didn't click for me, but I'll still watch next week and LOL at the random cutaways and 90's pop culture refernces...and it's still better than South Park SO THERE

Which is a good episode That's a good episode just for the scene at the very end. Archie: Please...God, just help me. If it's my time just show your face... *black janitor shows up in the cellar, unlocks the door* Janitor: Hey there Mr. Bunker. Archie: Oh Christ...the Jeffersons were right!

Other than the disturbing beginning, the episode seemed to pick itself back up a little bit. Was it their best episode? No, but it wasn't horrible either. The only thing I didn't like was McFarlane's crack at Columbine, but the dude lives to get a rise out of people so that's not a huge deal.

Sounds like he was trying to troll the viewers, and banking on his "I can get away with anything" reputation/position to back it up.

I missed it, Hulu doesn't have it, and I'm actually interested in seeing it.
Thoughts?

I missed it, Hulu doesn't have it, and I'm actually interested in seeing it. Thoughts? None. It's on the Internet though because I was just done watching it. That's all I will say. I kind of liked it. It wasn't a real joke filled episode. I thought it was interesting, different, but that's not a bad thing. It's not the worst, it's not the best. Everytime the Simpsons does a milestone episode it gets shit on, this will be no exception.

I dont see this as Family Guy jumping the shark, more of a break from tradition. I do agree that Family guy is running on fumes at this point. They just arent even trying.
BTW for my absolute hatred of anything Kesha-related, the Simpsons intro was pretty good.
