Plus it probably wouldn't do to knock UFC since that's Spike's bread n butter.

It's weird. Sometimes, when Hogan talks, it's cringe worthy, as he maybe a pathological liar. However, sometimes when he's talking about stuff like this, he seems right on the money.
TNA does need to go in that direction with UFC. That doesn't mean all the matches should look like shoots. Jim Cornette said it best. In wrestling, a shoot is a shitty match, because no one is co-operating with each other. But, if TNA goes the no nonsense route with their booking, they could really help themselves out.
That's one reason why I'm kinda yay and nay for Hogan as a booker, due to his experience. But of course, he's not the best business man when it comes to looking out for other people.

New logo is not bad but, it's more of a tweaked* logo than a new one.

Yeah, I like the minimal look it has.
I think trying to tap into the general vibe of UFC is a good idea. Doing the intros like they do for the main events for all matches would be a good start. Downplaying soap opera storylines in favour of more sports orientated storylines (an untapped goldmine) wouldn't hurt either.

The new logo appears to be an ameteurish CGI render of the old one?

Yeah the new logo looks kinda cheesy, like someone threw it together in 10 minutes. Kinda like the new Elimination Chamber logo.

I really, sincerely, truly wish sites would stop taking everything interview Hogan does and posting it as the hottest news in wrestling of the moment.
Hogan is the greatest worker of them all. He's working everyone about everything, and he's getting away with it all.

If TNA truly wants to compete with the WWE, the best solution is to not emulate the WWE. As for studying MMA and trying to figure out how to incorporate some of it into pro wrestling sounds great when spoken, but MMA and pro wrestling is like comparing Pepsi to orange juice. Sure there's a few similarities, but there's significant differences between the two as well.
For example, in MMA there are no faces or heels. Fans root for who they want to root for. It's not to say that guys can't act heelish or dickish in MMA, but it usually depends on the fighter's personality and how that fighter wants to be perceived. Does TNA go more in that direction? Essentially allow their talent to play more to their real-life personality instead of playing a character?

Okay, so if Hogan really is running things behind the scenes now, why haven't we heard of Russo's departure?
Sorry, but this still smells like a huge work. Even that or Hogan just can't help but overstate his importance in whatever role he has.

Were I in charge of a wrestling company, the fighting sport I'd steal something from would be boxing, and the way they hype up their big time main events.
Seriously, nothing pumps up a crowd more than the pageantry of the hype building towards the official ring introductions at a boxing match.
TNA tries to do that sometimes when they show the guys walking backstage before a PPV main event entrance, but they should go further with it.
As for Hogan, I'm starting to think he's straight up schizo, and reverts on a near constant basis between a sound, logical approach to wrestling, and "I SLAMMED THE 900 POUND BIG STINKY GIANT INTO HITLER AND PREVENTED WORLD WAR 2, BROTHER!!!". Sort of a living version of Ed Leslie's Zodiac gimmick.

I actually don't like the new logo. It's looks overly simplified and "sophisticated".

Even that or Hogan just can't help but overstate his importance in whatever role he has. That's true; I'm sure there would've been some movement regarding the booking team, and there wouldn't be all the build up of Foley resenting him, Nash hinting at things, etc., if there wasn't some level of "work" behind at least parts of this whole deal.

Just as an aside, TNA really screwed me over here. As someone who worked on the WWF art team circa Spring 2002, I put days of hard work into designing their new logo: Last time I ever help them.

If there's anything I learned from wrestling, it's that I don't believe any of them. They're all a bunch of big, fat, smelly liars. That includes you Rick Martel. I know you weren't REALLY a model.

You know, now that I think about it. Maybe some of you guys are onto something. Maybe this whole thing is a work. But not on the fans. IT'S ON HOGAN!
Hold on. Let me find my tinfoil hat. Where did I put that thing? It's not under my bed. And why am I typing all of this? Oh here it is. It's already on my head.
Okay. Picture this. In order to get Hogan to sign on the dotted line, TNA Management told Hogan he could be their "Mr. McMahon". Hogan, confusing the Mr. McMahon character which is what TNA signed him to portray simply for TV purposes and storyline advancement...with Vince McMahon, Chairman of the WWE which is what Hogan actually thinks he signed up for. He actually believes that he's running the ship and that he will have the final word on all bookings and pushes.
So when Hogan shows up on Monday morning, he shows up in his business suit and suitcase. He sits down on the board room and begins his Powerpoint presentation on how TNA could resurrect the NWO and integrate a Brian Knobbs talk show, this is when the rug is pulled from under him. Everybody points and laughs at him and Hogan tears off his business suit in anger.

I never liked their logo to begin with though. Also I think it highlights the scaling back of what made them unique to begin with as the background is no longer an X.
