Maybe they'll compromise and switch to 5 sides?

Something tells me that the Impact Zone would look INSANELY minor league with a 4-sided ring. I just cannot picture it. At least right now it can pass as the 'small, action-packed soundstage with this crazy looking ring where anything can happen', but if it goes four sides, I see it becoming the 'well, we look just like your normal wrestling program and we can't even afford a big arena!' But hey, WCW Saturday Night didn't look bad at Disney MGM, so I guess I'll wait before being 100% against the idea.

They should break out the kumite ring from Bloodsport. And every match has this song playing in the background. ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te ku-mi-te

It helps pull off the aesthetics of that building. When they start touring on a more regular basis, then consider dropping it.

They should break out the kumite ring from Bloodsport. When HHH receives his 17th world title, Flair must return and say "You break my record, now I break you!"

I'm not sure if I would get rid of the ring as opposed to broadening out the impact zone somewhat as to give the ring a big more of an aura or a space and also allowing the camera crew to film it properly instead of the sort of claustrophobic vibe it tends to give off i.e. more long shots (somewhat limited due to the size of the venue but can be compensated for with a bit of good directing) in contrast to the sort of clammy sense it has now where it always seems like someone bought a piece of furniture three sizes too big for their room. I agree with the sentiment that it is distinctive, however superficial it may be but it is still differentiates enough and that's what TNA needs right now.
A point which leads me nicely to this:
Change the colour of the ropes please, preferably to black or another shade of anything but red or blue. Again, many would suggest that such an aesthetic is superfluous to the product as a whole but I promise you, you wouldn't believe the number of non fan folk I've sat down to watch Impact with and their first assumption is either:
1- This is WWE Raw Pre-Attitude right?
or
2 - This is WCW Nitro circa 2000/2001
I know that black ropes were used on Nitro during the MNW and I'm not suggesting they go with that, just something else. Maybe back to the original yellow with tint of red and black on the apron or a charcoal.
Basically, give the product space to breathe with a bigger space, better direction, leave the ring as is for the moment but just mix it up a little.

I don't like the 6 sided ring, but it has nothing to do with how many sides the ring has.
When I first started watching Impact, it took me a while to put my finger on what was bugging me about the crowd. I remembered thinking that TNA had respectable looking crowd when they were in the Asylum, but at the Impact Zone the crowd looked...different. It kind of looked smaller, but when they show the camera panning the crowd it doesn't look so bad.
Then when I was watching last week, it hit me. The crowd looks smaller from the hard camera, because there are less ring side seats. They have the guard rails set up so that they are parallel to each side of the ring. When you're watching WWE, all you can see from the hard camera is the ring and the crowd. But in TNA you see the ring, and some of the crowd.
It's hard to put into words, but it's a small problem for me. It makes TNA look like the little leagues.
