Who cares about mild chair shots when we have a viper going around punting people...

I do like that it keeps the wrestlers safe.
I will miss some chair shots though because there are many memorable ones and they did sometimes make an angle even that much more personal. (I.E. Shamrock vs Rock 1997-98)
However, safety first. I actually always wondered how in the hell wrestlers were able to take unprotected chair shots in the first place. When you really think about it, you could kill a guy if swung hard enough.

A certain deceased Canadian wrestler who won't be named here, but took numerous unprotected chair shots to the head, is evidence that you can't take that kind of hit without certain consequences.

Disappointed. I always thought BOOM HEADSHOT method of chair-hit was a very visceral, effective move.

I can't think of any of my favorite spots in any match ever that involved a shot to the head. On top of that, concussions are REALLY bad. So, good.

A little disappointing, but I guess it makes sense.

Very disappointing. Luckily, it says nothing about sledgehammer shots, which I believe are fine as long as you cup your hand over the point if impact from the hammer. All I can say is imagine Rock vs. Mankind, I Quit without the chairshots. I mean, sure, Foley's wife and kids wouldn't be crying, but I'd be less entertained.

I figured that much about the policy. Sure it makes for a more exciting match, but we are also looking at the long term effects. The man who shall not be named is a sure fire sign at how one can gain mental instability taking those type of shots. Nevermind that the WWE fails to forget that he also was doing a diving headbutt along with it, but still yet, the WWE is watching their butts from a business standpoint, even though chair shots were basically a staple of wrestling for over 30 years.

HHH protecting himself froma chair shot because he was sure to take 1000 of them in a year is not a bad thing not do I feel it lessened the impact the move had on a match. Staying standing upright after taking one is no-logic no-sell. As for the new policy, good for WWE for protecting thier guys. I know this likely came about due partly to the G rated push the last few years but realisticly it is a posative measure with less to do with fans in mind but more with wrestlers

Well it's obvious it leads to head problems both physical and possibly mental in the future. I don't think anyone is discounting that fact at all. I literally meant, how did they take unprotected chair shots so hard because they freaking hurt. I have bumped my head before and I was in serious pain. I never could imagine taking a large metal folding chair to the dome, being swung by a 300lb man at full force.

The one chair shot I remember looking insanely brutal was in a match featurning The Acolytes and The Mean Street Posse of all people. Faarooq waffled Pete Gas with a chair so hard, that it actually wrapped around his head. It was like in the cartoons when somebody gets whacked with a frying pan, and you see the shape of their head/face in it.
I also remember seeing Big Show take a shot from, I want to say Rock or Austin, where it was just like, "Jesus, man...block it a little bit."

suprised, I figured there would be a lot of chair shots and plunder in Bret vs. Vince. I figured this will be for the long haul but I assume a chair shot will return sometime down the road to set up a big angle (which I think is okay if used sparingly).
