The gym on campus where I work out is populated with MMA fans, I usually train a little like a MMA guy because I'm also training to be a wrestler and MMA training is good for endurance.. so anyways I get asked sometimes about MMA, and I usually say nah I watch it occasionally but I'm actually a wrestling fan, que typical MMA is Real Wrestling is dumb and fake to counter that argument bring up the fact that Seth Petrualiizo (I think thats his name) was asked to "make Kimbo look good" in match and would have gotten a "bonus" if he did, at least us wrestling fans admit that our stuff is scripted haha
(for the record I'm not saying that MMA is fake I'm just saying its funny to see MMA fans reactions when then hear that)

By the way, the post about Lesnar winning the UFC Heavyweight title, that's the thing I despise about MMA fans. I like MMA, but when it comes to the fans, they are too gung-ho about being anti-wrestling and always starting wars with wrestling fans. Plus, you should've seen a while back on the IMDB board of The Ultimate Fighter. This one guy criticized a guy for also being a wrestling fan and claimed that he wasn't a "true MMA fan". I find this especially ironic, considering that the first three "legitimate" MMA leagues (Shooto,RINGS, and Pancrase) were created by pro wrestlers. That and their have been numerous pro-wrestlers who have succeeded in MMA long before Brock Lesnar, such as Kazushi Sakuraba, Kazuyuki Fujita, Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki, Kiyoshi Tamura, Ikuhisa Minowa, and Genki Sudo. I swear most of the hard-core MMA crowd are morons.

I'm an indy wrestler. Once at an autograph signing, a kid wanted to come up and get some signatures from some of us wrestlers. His dad stopped him, and said, "You don't want to meet these guys. All they do is steroids and murder their families," and he pulled the kid away. This was a mere month after the Benoit incident, but completely ridiculous and unnecessary.

I hate it when people treat wrestlers like they're not even human.

I am so sorry to hear about that man. What a f***ing moron. Once again I am so sorry to hear about that. What a f***ing moron. I don't know what to say, I just keep repeating myself. That was just so stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I am facepalming myself and it hurts so bad right now. Not because I just had surgery but because of what he said.

My Grandad was reading a paper while I watching WM17, as the show went on he paid more and more attention and seemed really into the TLC, near the end of the match he piped up with a faint "notice how you don't see them land?".
I realised he'd been trying to work out the trick all match and pointed out there was a live crowd, he'd already realised what he said was stupid so we just laughed and he then watched the rest of the show.

The kind of former fans that are ashamed that they even liked wrestling, enough to deny that they ever were fans.

Another thing: Until 2007, I thought puro was completely real. Nothing disappointed me more than to find out that the winners weren't legit, just like everywhere else. Wow, I feel really old if there are people on this board who still thought pro wrestling was real as recently as that. You mark! Only joking, To add to the topic though, I also know a girl who thinks that only the title matches are real, I really cant understand how someone would think that.

I remember someone thinking Sherri Martel was a work, think it was the same time as the Vince death storyline, could be wrong about that though. Was ludicrous either way.

When I watch Wrestling at a bar or something and someone comes up to me like "you know thats fake, right?".
I usually go with it and tell them im in for the storys and what not... and then lead the question to "what do you usually watch??" they say like Friends, CSI, Law and Order or 24.... I then smirk and calmly say, "You know it's fake, right?". I then turn to the TV and continue to enjoy.
Also...
people who still think the ring is "bouncy" or "like a trampoline". Nothing about that ring mat is bouncy. the only part with some give is the sweet spot in the center of the ring.

I still crack up thinking about a post I read on here a while back by someone who had another person trying to tell them that HHH could spit water like that because he had plastic tubes implanted in his head.

I... umm... w-wait...uh... what? He's spitting water! There's not a science to it! You have water in your mouth... and you spit! What's next, they only move because someone is pulling them with strings?

I've given up explaining pro-wrestling to anyone. Last time I tried, I was watching RAW in college and the announcers were explaining strategy Ric Flair could use when taking on Triple H.
Roommate: "Why the hell are they talking about strategy. There's no strategy needed. It's all fake!"
Me: "Let me tell you something. Let's say you're watching Friday Night Lights and get to the part where Coach Gaines (Billy Bob Thorton) is talking to his team and trying to get them motivated for the second half. He gets up and says, 'sorry I took so long in my trailer, boys. I was doing an interview for my album. Yes, I'm recording an album. I can sing. Anyway, you're gonna go and pretend like you're playing some important football game and then at the end you're gonna cry. I'll be on the sidelines talking about how I once banged Angelina Jolie when the camera is not on me. Got it? break!'" That would probably ruin the film for you, now wouldn't it?
Roommate: Actually, that would be awesome!
Me: UGHHHHHHH!!

I love it when people say "You know it's fake, right?" because EVERY SINGLE PERSON words it the exact same way.

I once knew a guy who told me wrestling is fake....and that wrestling school was really "Acting School." It was ten years ago and it still makes me sick.

I imagine that MMA fans are especially antsy because of the desire to see MMA elevated as a legitimate sport and having sports-entertainment figures involved could make people see MMA as "fake" and not worthy of credibility.
Remember, this has happened with Lesnar, Lashley, Shane McMahon, and now even Jim Ross: as they express their interest in MMA, the MMA message board posters decry being involved with "fake" pro wrestling.
