..promotion?
Basically guys who were seen as big indy names but who never got big success on a big american stage.
Reckless Youth, Michael Modest and Donovan Morgan all come to mind for me.

Chris Hero I think is one of the bigger ones nowadays, as he's been a top indy star for ages. He was in TNA long enough to get himself a cup of coffee and a trading card, but I wouldn't really count that, he was on the xplosion crew. But yeah, Chris Hero, Claudio Castognoli never made it all the way to WWE as well.

I fully expect those two to have success in a major promotion...the ones I mentioned pretty much have seen their time come and go.

For better or for worse, New Jack. Humm ECW says Hi. They where Major as they where on PPV and National TV.

For better or for worse, New Jack. If we're not counting ECW as a major promotion then we can add a lot of people to this list. Personally though I would consider ECW a major North American promotion.

How about Bison Smith? I know he's wrestled for ROH but I don't think he's ever been in WWE or TNA.

First name I thought of when reading the thread title was Reckless Youth.

Yep, I also was gonna say Reckless Youth.
I remember back in late 99 maybe, there was talk of him going to ECW. Does anyone remember that and what the story was?
Also on the subject of Modest, I heard the reason WWE never gave him a shot was because he was one of the masked wrestlers in that Fox "Pro Wrestling Exposed" show.
