Crap How can I buy into a guy who's jobbed to Santino in recent months and competed on Superstars more than Raw as the new World Champion. When did he job to Santino? Oh yeah, Santino fluked a win in an over the top rope challenge, to give Swagger the reason to beat the crap out of him, for a few weeks. But he is a six time World Champion. And the hottest face on Raw right now. It ends it.

Rey is a lot of people's "Triple H", so to speak. And it never ceases to annoy the f*** out of me. It's so absurd, even for wrestling. Get the puny ass down, and STOMP HIM IN TO SUBMISSION. I have to agree with this. I can't seem to remember the last time Rey lost a match that didn't have a title on the line, or where he wasn't appropriately beaten up afterwards. Seriously, just because he's the kids' hero doesn't mean he HAS to win all the time!

World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger... No. Just no. It doesn't sound right when I say it. It doesn't look right when I type it. It just ain't right. Its never been more right my friend. THIS is the guy who deserved Sheamus's push. A wrong has been righted. All is right in the World. ITS MORNING AGAIN IN AMERICA! All Hail The All-American American World Heavyweight Thampion!

He was a decent ECW champion, I think he'll do just fine, and better than Sheamus.

Can I just say one thing that annoys me about spoilers in general though. This site didn't do it (although it looks like it may have started that way until a mod changed it) but so many others do, and even if they didn't the sheer size of this thread would give it away.
When a site posts something like "MAJOR SMACKDOWN SPOILER" or when I come to Wrestlecrap and see the Smackdown spoilers thread which is usually around 5 pages at 17 on Wedensday morning I know something big went down.
So therefore, I would be able to summize pretty easily the second Swagger's music hit on Friday that he was winning the World Title which would kill the shock value.
Just a minor pet peeve, and something that really can't be avoided.

I pretty much gathered when I saw the "MAJOR SmackDown Spoiler" thing that Swagger had cashed in. Did kind of give it away, yeah, but still marked out upon receiving confirmation.

I'd like to be really excited about Swagger... but I have my doubts. The Sheamus experiment yielded mixed results, and he was at least pushed heavily prior to his title win. Maybe he'll get pushed into the stratosphere. Or maybe he'll just get a title win and be shunted back down the card. History says either can happen. Swagger is better than Sheamus in every concievable area. By miles and miles. This will work. He's like a hybrid between early Kurt Angle (gimmick wise) and a smaller Brock Lesnar.

I'd personally take Sheamus over Swagger, but a big fan of both. I still mark out for Sheamus having won the gold.

At first when Sheamus won the title - I was like, "Oh crap - who cares about this bruiser?"
But, I'll be damned if WWE didn't do a good job of making me like the guy - and I hated - HATED Sheamus. So now I can see him in the main event scene.
I like Swagger more than I like Sheamus so I have faith that WWE will do the same for Swagger.
Plus, Swagger is the Odd's On Favorite to be your favorite WWE Champion.

I like Swagger, and I think he's an underrated talent, but I'd be so much better with this news if it were anyone but Jericho that lost the title.

I really can't decide between Sheamus or Swagger. Both were pretty much doing nothing, Sheamus on the fast track to Hossville to be fed Cena eventually, and Jack being on Superstars. Then out of nowhere, they get a shot, and they take the gold.
Now it took a while for the crowd to react to Sheamus, it was just sort of "Who the hell is this pale guy? BOO THIS MAN! BOO!". But after the reign was over and he moved on to Triple H, and even though he never actually beat a main eventer during his reign, the belt gave him that credibility to be taken seriously by Trips. Now the crowd is giving him some pretty good heat with the Sheamus sucks chants.
Now Swag is pretty much in the same position, but more akin to Punk sort of. He jobbing to Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely on ECW, and was doing nothing of worth. It wasn't "built up", he wasn't the favorite to win, and when he did everyone expected him to lose because Vince hates Indy guys. Of course Swagger's equivalent is losing a fluke over the top rope challenge and beating the shit out of Santino a week later and everytime they met afterwords. Even when he was "jobbing", it was to guys like Triple H and Cena, he beat MVP and Santino like a bunch of times.
He can already walk the walk with the big dogs, but can he talk it like Sheamus sort of has? Only time will tell.

A lot of it has to do with what happened with Lesnar and Lashley I think.
Vince likes to put guys in the dog house for a while and have them look weak to see if they can come back from it - just to make sure they'll be loyal to WWE.

I look at the big picture... and it makes me happy.
At Wrestlemania, WWE gave Jericho a thank you by having him enter and leave Wrestlemania as World Heavyweight Champion. The man deserves that honor, so Swagger cashing in, while being shocking, wasn't the point at the time.
With Batista on Raw now, and Jericho possibly taking time off soon, they NEEDED to pull the hotshot soon. Plus it's after Wrestlemania. Over the last few years, going into spring/summer, WWE has always did the same few shocking things...
1) Test the waters for a new main eventer: See CM Punk, JBL 2) Broken up a tag team: See Miz and Morrison 3) Debut or return: See Lesnar, Umaga, etc...
Plus, as another poster said, it gives the top faces (ie Edge) someone to chase for a few months. If your complaining about this... IT COULD'VE BEEN DREW MCINTYRE. I'll let that marinate for a few seconds...
...
...
...
So it's a win/win. Except for the Swagger haters.
And they can GET DOWN ON THEIR KNEES!
This situation just screams JBL's push. Not in the lenght of his run, but sliding in an arrogant patriotic loudmouth into a world title situation when no one thought he would ever hold a world title. They plugged up a large whole.

Ive been thinking about this since reading it last night, and I can honestly say: This might work.
I look at Swagger and I can see him going on a JBL-esque reign. Not in terms of legnth, but I can see him holding it for a bit and *somehow* finding ways to win
