I'm optimistic. This could totally work really, really well. However, it'd have been better if it was done next week, after Swagger comes close to cashing in a few times and backing out, and THEN going through with it. Would've been a better build for it. But I'm cool with this. I hope it works out as well as it has the potential to.

I didn't expect that at all, looking forward to see what they do with it though.

Sad part is, this thread will have more views and possibly double the amount of pages as the actual Smackdown thread.

Sad part is, this thread will have more views and possibly double the amount of pages as the actual Smackdown thread. Its one of the biggest problems with Smackdown being taped. When something this major happens its nearly impossible for a person with internet access to avoid it. My guess is most everyone in the IWC will know what happened before it actually does. The only way to avoid this spoiler is to turn off your computer entirely.

The guy is a hybrid of early Angle and Lesnar. He's going to be huge. .......................... Mr. Thwagguh? Really?

The guy who thinks he's this All-American hero who should be cheered but he's not. He's bigger than Angle and has a moveset more similar to Brock. Wears a red white and blue singlet now. Has a legit amateur background. Has buckets of charisma. The similiarities are endless.

actually, that would be almost the entire smackdown roster, with the glaringly obvious exceptions of vickie gurerro and michelle mccool. even drew mcintyre is preferable to this. Ok, so you don't like Swagger. I don't like Sheamus so I know how you feel. Smackdown roster though, I think if given the chance Jack has comparable charisma/in-ring skill to Punk, Jericho, and Edge who are the standard bearers on that show now. The guy is a hybrid of early Angle and Lesnar. He's going to be huge. Dude....are we watching two different people? I give all the room in the world to this guys fans and bandwagoners to enjoy his big moment...but let's not delude ourselves. We've got Sylvester the Cat here (Swagger) being compared in terms of charisma to the likes of Punk, Jericho, Edge and JBL? That makes my f*****g head explode. Did you not listen to his f*****g monotone delivery in his little promo on Monday? Did you not hear that atrocious lisp? The dude CANNOT talk without sounding unintelligible. I respect most everything you post, Robbymac...but I have to call foul on this one. There is NO f*****g way on God's green Earth you can sit there and compare people who actually HAVE mic skills and charisma to Captain Speech Impediment. Whatever natural charisma Jake Hagar has is lost the moment he opens his mouth and a tsunami of spit swallows his every sentence. Jack Swagger is pretty impressive when it comes to ring work, I will give him that...and I DO wish they'd play up his amateur background more...but the guy is absolutely ABOMINABLE on the mic.

Sometimes even WWE has spoilt it with the Kurt Angle and I believe the 2007 Edge (can't remember if they spoilt that one or not?) title switches. Interesting that they haven't done that yet with this one, which kind of reflects the direction of the website in recent times.
Oh and another thing, Swagger's lisp is no worse than Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes. In fact they have far worse lisps and it didn't seem to hold them back. Perhaps because their opponents didn't make fun of it so that the crowd still took them seriously.

Saying Swagger has no mic skills cause of his lisp is like saying Ric Flair had none cause of he was tongue tied. The lisp is an excellent touch to his character, he's goofy.

You bring up an interesting point Rorschach and I think what you say at the end of that rant is closer to what Robby is trying to say. Sometimes charisma isn't measured by what someone does on the mic, it's about making the audience care about him. I think Swagger has that ability on a certain level. Is he a Punk level talker on the stick, no. But I do think that he can make people care about this run if the WWE lets him.

The lisp is an asset to the character. Seriously. It helps that goofy Kurt Angle circa 2000 thing he's got going. He's supposed to be a legit athlete, that thinks he's hot shit, but in reality he's a goof. But he's a goof that can kick your ass. That's the character.

I'm indifferent to the switch, I just feel like it's happened at a curious time. Is Jericho in trouble for something? Are they building towards a triple threat? Confusion abound.

I can't wait to see this actually. Would prefer it to have been Christian or Ziggler, but I'm very surprised they went with the cash-in this early.
This show sounds crazy actually. Cryme Tyme split, Kane takes on the entire NXT roster, Dolph beats Khali CLEAN...not saying any of this is bad, but it sounds like one of them wild episodes.

Wow, I hate this. What the hell was the point of Jericho winning at WM, plus Edge winning the Royal Rumble? Both guys get screwed over.

Edge got a big memorable return Jericho got a signature Wrestlemania win A new guy got put over, and the proverbial rocket tied to his ass Edge and Jericho have combined to win 15 World Titles. I don't think anyone is crying for them.

Both guys are also some of the biggest names in the company and being in-demand main eventers always have something big that they can do. Their careers (or their pushes) are in NO danger here. Instead, a young guy like Swagger has just been given a world title, and he's a tremendous wrestler and a budding personality. Of any of those three, he's the one who needs the belt the most.

I agree, but I wish they would have pushed him more. I'm still having a hard time figuring out how he could have won the MitB, considering he was jobbing to Santino a few months ago. I just don't like the lack of consistency. If Swagger had won the title a few months from now, I would be fine with it. Point is WWE could have done the exact same thing with Kingston, Christian, Hardy, MVP are any of the other guys in there and it would still be less of a shock.

I too wish for him to be booked like Bradshaw but I want him to be as goofy and corny as early Kurt Angle. The problem is if they do give them a JBL run they need a new babyface to gradually boost up the rankings to be the Cena to Swagger's JBL. Perhaps the Cryme time feud is going to lead to JTG breaking out as the new face of Smackdown??? Right idea, wrong guy. They have been trying to elevate R-Truth to the ME for some time now, this is that time. It's either him or Morrison really. Or as someone else said, maybe you move Orton. Please, just anyone but 'Taker. He's already got his whipping boy in Punk, I don't want him taking Jack along for the ride too. R-Truth's had a couple of issues entering Canada since he re-signed - he was flat out denied at the border not long after he first signed. Consdiering different parts of Canada seemingly have different rules (he's worked Canada at least once since, but has been left off at least once too), you can't put your top belts on a guy that you can't guarantee is going to be allowed to make it to the show.
