Both guys are also some of the biggest names in the company and being in-demand main eventers always have something big that they can do. Their careers (or their pushes) are in NO danger here. Instead, a young guy like Swagger has just been given a world title, and he's a tremendous wrestler and a budding personality. Of any of those three, he's the one who needs the belt the most. I agree, but I wish they would have pushed him more. I'm still having a hard time figuring out how he could have won the MitB, considering he was jobbing to Santino a few months ago. I just don't like the lack of consistency. If Swagger had won the title a few months from now, I would be fine with it. Point is WWE could have done the exact same thing with Kingston, Christian, Hardy, MVP are any of the other guys in there and it would still be less of a shock. I think that's the reason why it works. As soon as Swagger won the MITB there began the (small) speculative group counting down "How long till Swagger cashes in and fails with MITB?" There's always a cooldown period after WM because people would think the first few weeks would be the most obvious, but now it's the least obvious time to do it. Now that Swagger has won, most people have been caught out of left field. I would love to know the people who honestly expected him to win it this soon (or at all ), and since this is something that really has little precedent, what can we expect now? Some people said Sheamus was surprising, but Sheamus was also being pushed very hard when he faced Cena and won. I think that the closest thing to this was when the artist formerly known as Johnny Nitro won the ECW title as a stand-in for Benoit. Most people weren't expecting that to happen. Punk was a favorite and Morrison--not a full month before going to ECW--had been reduced to a complete and utter JTTS. In the same vein, I think that Swagger's reign will be as fruitful as Morrison's was (a reign that totally changed around his standing in the company), perhaps moreso if there aren't any wellness charges floating about once he's entrenched with the title. But like Morrison, Swagger is TOTALLY out there yet still potentially very credible. Shocking that he would win considering who he's facing? Yes. But is he salvageable? I think so.

I'm not the biggest Swagger fan in the world (although he was awesome on Monday), but I love this.
Swagger is talented, and I love the whole goofy thing he's got going on. Provided they make it clear he can hold his own in the ring (and they did against HHH when he was apparently 'jobbing') then he's good to go.
I don't really get the complaints to be honest. It's unpredictable and it pushes a new star, this is good right?
Sucks about Cryme Tyme though. JTG is screwed.

This can put Swagger in the top 2 heels on SD with Jericho. Or he may becaome a tweener. Here is freash and doesn't give the exact same promo every single week like punk and Jericho.
We have a young wrestler being pushed. Most people wanted this. But when it happens the posters who want fresh main eventers still find a way to diss it.
Yeah he had a losing streak on Raw, But so did Kofi and alot of people wanted him to to win MITB and win the title when he hasn't been any better that Swagger.
He maybe the best pure wrestler on smackdown.

I'm just not crazy about this whole "superpush" thing the WWE is doing. What ever happened to a good old fashioned Intercontinental title reign before a guy got thrown into the main event? I know the common defense for Swagger (just like with Sheamus) will be "Yeah, you guys complain when they don't push new talent, and then you complain when they finally do!"
It's a valid argument, but these guys seem WAY too green, and there seems to be a ton of guys on the roster who've paid their dues much longer and continue to get overlooked for World title reigns. Off the top of my head:
Christian - How STUPID can the WWE be? A feud with Edge over the World title seems like a no-brainer, but they never seem to pull the trigger Matt Hardy - A lot of people still feel he's the most talented of the Hardy brothers. Do you see the reaction he gets when his music hits? The crowd loves this guy. Kofi - God only knows what he did to be de-pushed into oblivion. They let him show some personality, gave him a short feud with Orton, and then....POOF! What the hell?
Seriously...at this rate, the winner of NXT is going to win the WWE title when he gets his guaranteed title shot.

Granted I'm a Swagger fan and already loving this, but even if I wasn't I'd still prefer him over all three of these guys.

Granted I'm a Swagger fan and already loving this, but even if I wasn't I'd still prefer him over all three of these guys. Agreed. I love Christian, but I think people are FAR too obsessed with an E+C nostaligia feud. They've been away from each other for pretty much 7-8 years. The time for that is long past. Matt: Love Matt, he's VERY over. But he just doesnt have 'it'. He's not a guy that can carry your company. Kofi: Someday, yes. He will be. Just not now. Swagger is a guy who they saw something in. While the booking has been far from perfect with him, he clearly has the tools to be something big

I remember watching the Backlash 2009 DVD a while back and Swagger was AWESOME as ECW Champion, IMO. I was a little disappointed that he got the Raw Midcard treatment and thought it would take forever for him to win another title...especially after he was booked to look like a complete moron after walking out of a US title match.
Nearly 1 Year after his Backlash title loss, he's World Heavyweight Champion, and I couldn't be any happier.
Let's hope they book him right, I really don't want a chickens*** heel reign. Let him dominate. His expression after winning the match makes him look like such a calm, cool and collected badass.

Personally, I'm hoping Swagger shows up on RAW, stares down Cena in the locker room area, looks back and forth from the WHC belt to the WWE belt a few times, says "Mine's bigger" then leaves.

I just really hope that this is not a transitional run for Swagger at Extreme Rules to put the title on Edge. I agree with most of the previous posts about Swagger being a dominating heel. I really want him to go over people like Edge and Jericho cleanly. Although I was a huge fan of the 'E giving Sheamas a title run, he could not win cleanly over a top star, and I really want the opposite with Swagger.
And again. No...Transitional...Championship Run.

I found it rather annoying that it took until after Sheamus lost the title that he was able to pin a Main Eventer cleanly (Orton during that 3 on 2 handicap match)
I do not want that happening to Swagger.

Matt: Love Matt, he's VERY over. But he just doesnt have 'it'. He's not a guy that can carry your company. In a post-10 month Bradshaw world title reign, "not having 'it'" doesn't seem to be a valid argument anymore. Besides, Matt has held the fans' emotional investments for a decade, moved enough merchandise and proved he's capable enough of being a media darling. How does he not have "it?"

You know what is somewhat irritating about Swagger's win? It shows that the company is willing to give shots at the top to people who have proven that they aren't great talkers....so long as they are a hoss. There are a ton of talented midcard who talk as well or better than Jack, some of whom are also very over as well. I like Swagger, but I have yet to see anything from him that even suggests that he should be anything more than a midcarder.

Wow edge has had something to do with every MitB cash in. The two years he cashed it in, the one year he got cashed on. Then the other three years he speared or had a match with the champion right before it was cashed in.
