I can't imagine the reaction to this news on the SyFy message boards. I remember the overwhelming negative reaction to ECW coming on it. Sci-Fi geeks upset because the wrestling geeks are taking over their network. Hoffsome! Dear Sci-Fi geeks:

Actually with Taker and Kane on Smackdown, they should be right up Sci-Fi's alley.... I'd mark for a Kane appearance on Warehouse 13 or Eureka.

Sci-Fi geeks upset because the wrestling geeks are taking over their network. Hoffsome! Dear Sci-Fi geeks: I think comments like this are really uncalled for. Wrestling fans complain when their shows get bumped for dog shows, baseball games, etc. But when wrestling is the one doing the bumping, everything's OK, right? Seriously, I'm not even a sci-fi fan, and i think that not only do sci-fi fans have a legitimate reason to be upset, but when people make comments like this, the only thing you accomplish is reinforcing the negative stereotypes that come with being a wrestling fan.

I'm sure this will make the sci-fi lovers very happy. To be fair, I think the first blow to the "Sci-Fi Channel" was when Mst3k was cancelled. The final death of anything Science Fiction about the channel came when the NBC Universal merger went through. That's when the "Sci-Fi Original" took over 98% of the programming.

Well, now I will only watch RAW, since I do not get SyFy.
All the better, Raw is the superior show anyway!
I guest I can watch SD on YouTube but like I cant force myself to watch stuff that long on a computer monitor and it will be in stupid quality too...

It's like if ESPN started showing soap operas....it's NOT the same group of people watching those two different things, so why SHOULDNT the SYFY fan be upset that there is more things they aren't interested in taking time from the things they are?
I hate wrestling fans sometimes.

I like this move! Hopefully Smackdown gets a boost in ratings.
But WHY is it still on Friday? Ugh...

Am I the only one suspecting NXT's going to be dropped entirely, rather than having two wrestling shows on SyFy?
The whole reason NXT got created at all was that SyFy was unhappy with ECW's ratings... and NXT isn't doing much better. Offering them WWE's established, 2nd-largest show could well be a way to sweeten the deal by giving the network a wrestling program that's likely to actually do significantly better numbers... and the fact that WWE's been looking to get Smackdown off the dying MyNetwork for some time is certainly an added bonus.

It's not Sci-Fi, it's SyFy!
I have no idea what the difference is though.

I think if they do this they should really pust some "Sci Fi" in the angles. Like we had the really paranormal stuff with Shango, Undertaker, and Kane, back in the mid-late 90s.
They could also bring back Robocop.

I want to comment on this. I remember when ECW started and the SciFi (what it used to be called anyway) forums, and people were horrible about it. Calling everyone who wanted to talk about it rednecks and acting like idiots. Hell I remember either Sabu or one of the other ECW originals actually addressed the forum madness in the early days. There's a difference between complaining about something constructively and bitching while making ignorant assumptions. Just hope they choose the first option instead of repeating history about "wrasslin" taking over their channel.

While I agree with your general statement, you have to see where they're coming from: Most sci-fi fans want nothing to do with wrestling, and want nothing to do with it on their network. IMO, they have a right to be upset. Do they go overboard with it? Sure. And I agree that there's no need for the insults in either direction. And that's where the problem lies. If we don't want them "bitching" or "making ignorant assumptions" while calling us "rednecks", then we can't turn around and rub salt in their wounds by making bad jokes and posting "cry some more" videos. By doing so, all we do is reinforce the very stereotypes that we don't want them to have. If we are to be taken seriously as wrestling fans, we need to stop acting like we're in junior high.
