They may just be jobbing him out to show two things.

1) Show the other guys that he's up for paying his dues.
1a) Show every indy guy in the world that CM Punk is the exception, not the rule.

2) Soothing their own fears that Bryan may have a huge ego (which I'm sure he doesn't) so they're jobbing him out to make him realize he's not better than anyone else.


Or I could be reading into this too deeply and this could just be an angle to build drama and not make him look like the ringer.

^ Not really. He's currently number 1 in the rankings and he could say he got liked on his ability alone, not by holding titles.

Anyway, I marked huge for DH Smith pinning CM Punk clean. That's freaking jizz-worthy.

Thing is, at this point, the drama's been built LONG past the logical climax point. The last couple of weeks should have been the point where he started a comeback, leading a dramatic finale where he either wins or loses by the skin of his teeth. Instead, it looks like we're gonna get "he can't win a match" pounded into our heads ad nauseum.

If he loses again next week and goes 0-10 then you can consider this a failure. Tonight he pretty much gets buried by Regal and Miz.

Well maybe jobbing out Bryan makes sense to someone one the writing staff but I don't see it.

Bryan snaps, goes on a winning streak, beats The Miz, wins the title.

Bryan is put in a "loser gets kicked off NXT" match against David Otunga, looks like he's going to lose then picks up the win at the last second. Starts winning matches after that, challenges Miz for title.

Bryan loses another match, gets bad-mouthed by Miz on the mic, snaps and kicks his ass. Starts to win matches, and begins looking like a huge threat.

All the NXT rookies take on their Pro's in singles matches. The Miz taunts Bryan, Bryan responds by knocking him out with one move and pinning him in record time for the rookies. Starts winning matches.

Unless he loses all of the rest of his matches then gets kicked off NXT on the first elimination and is never seen on WWE again, I still believe they're gonna do something with him. His storyline has been going since before the show started. It's unlikely it was leading to nothing.

I actually think their storyline with Bryan is "This guy's reasonably talented, but can't actually do anything worthwhile."

Look at it. He gets buried by Cole week in and out- forget this "Hes a heel" stuff, he isnt a heel too ANY OTHER WRESTLER OR ROOKIE.

He's lost every single match, taking the pin in all but 1 of them, clean every single time.

Matt Striker is now burying him verbally.

2nd time he's had someone do a run-in on him now with no retaliation (Remember Big Show randomly chokeslamming him?).

He's not the star of NXt and I seriously doubt he ever has been. Barrett's been hyped up endlesly by Jericho and actually given wins & credibility. Otunga's the only guy to have been on Raaw and has a few wins. Slater won the Keg contest, and, alongside Gabriel, has had a fair few wins.

The only person you could even argue looks worse than Bryan is Tarver, and thats debatable cause hes had nowhere near as many clean losses.

If I were Daniel Bryan, should the WWE go on to just punish him on screen, Id ask for the release. He deserves better than this, and as long as Hogan doesn't douche it up, he is a star waiting to break out for TNA.

He went to WWE to make money and better his health. Why would he want to go to TNA?

Hasn't McMahon had an open invitation for him to join for years?

Weren't they going to bring him right to TV, but he asked to go to FCW because he didn't feel he was at his best?

Despite the winning impaired record, he's still getting positive reactions from the crowd, because of what he does in the ring.

Also, they're in England. I'd be shocked if Cena beat Regal while on this tour.

I would pop if JTG came out of this feud looking good.

I think he is pretty athletic in the ring and has the personality to be a singles star.

The thing is, if he keeps losing, and losing and losing, all he's gonna be to the fans is another Funaki. As in, "yeah, that guy's great, but don't expect him to win a match". Those guys rarely even get used on tv, let alone pushed.
