Maybe because the big gold belt actually looks like a championship belt? What does the spinner look like? Lets see it has a leather strap, a giant gold front plate with smaller plates on the sides. Has the name of the champion, and the company logo on it. I could see how one could be confused as to what it was... I should of emphasized. The big gold belt looks like a REAL belt, not a toy one. I know you're a Cena fan but come on, you knew what I meant so don't even try.

I'm not really sure it's the best one, but the only one I can come up with is "Old Fashioned"

The Intercontinental Title and other old fashioned titles look good, and I prefer them to the pimped out WWE title. I even get wanting the Eagle belt back, because that thing was great too. What I'm specifically referring to is people's love for the Big Gold Belt. Which just looks like a worn out piece of junk to me.

I share a birthday with the WWE Championship *says Happy Birthday to self* Just the current look of it. The real birthday of the WWE Championship isn't until later this month, on April 29. It will be 47 years old.

I want the new belt to be a golden portrait of Drew encrusted with diamonds.
Change the name of the company to Drew McIntyre Wretling. DMW The introductions would go like this
"Coming down to the ring the DMW champion.....not as good as Drew McIntyre......Randy Orton!"
Boooooo would be replaced Dreeeeeewwww as would cheers thus causing total confusion on who is face and who is heel making people wonder if they acidently tuned into TNA.
I don't like the current title though. 5 years is too long.

I know people don't like "Champ" on it, but what really bums me out is that one of the side plates says, "Mon Nite RAW".
C'mon, now.

Though I don't rank it up there as good as (or even close in some respects) to World Titles of old, I really don't mind it that much at all anymore. It looks good/better on some wrestlers than others. I always thought that HHH looked good with it. I didn't think Batista would but it suprised me a lot how good I thought he looked with it; but personally, when I think of this belt, the first person that comes to mind with it is Randy Orton.

Agreed, the Rated R belt was awesomeness. This might sound cheesy but I really think WWE missed out on a heck of an opportunity. I thought what when Edge got the custom "Rated R" spinner on the belt they could do this with other champions. HHH - Hunter's cross with crossed sledgehammers behind it HBK- a "Broken Heart" from his old gear or his tattoo logo RVD- a Yin/Yang Taker- his symbol (encrusted in obsidian or hematite with quartz) Then you could sell the belt with just the "W" and put out interchangeable plates for $20 - $50 each depending on how blinged they would be.

I always hated it, but did not mind it that much at first. It was a custom belt that matched the champ at first. Then again, I have always been a fan of custom belts, because it said that the champ had the confidence that he would hold the title long enough to be worth the trouble.
That being said, I would actually mark if the next WWE champ brought back the eagle design or some other classic look.

It may be blinged out, but it doesn't look at all like any toy I've ever seen. And for the billionth time I am not some huge Cena fan. I started a Batista chant at Wrestlemania for chrissakes. I respect his work, and think he gets undue criticism so I tend to stick up for him, but there are plenty of guys I personally prefer.

I think the main problem with the current belt is that, about 20 years from now when they'll (hopefully) eventually have a different belt, when people will think back on the (Non)Spinner belt, it'll be recognized as Cena's belt, and Cena's belt only.
And the problem isn't that Cena was the first one to hold the new belt design, the problem is that the belt was made specifically FOR Cena, just like how the US Spinner belt was made FOR Cena years back, and you never want your company's main title to be based off of one guy. Otherwise, you're slapping every great past champion in the face by saying "Look, you weren't good enough to have your temporary custom belt become the permanent look for the title".
Austin and the Smoking Skull title belt comes to mind.

I'm trying to find a term that described how I feel about this mindset. I'm not really sure it's the best one, but the only one I can come up with is "Old Fashioned" And what's wrong with that? I like the belts to look old fashioned yes. You don't see trophies in other sports get "blinged up". Seriously, what's wrong with wanting a title belt to look like a title belt, fake sport or not? Regarding the "blinging up" of trophies, I invite you to compare the Yankees' 1952 WS ring its 2009 counterpart. 1952 - bit.ly/dbfmY62009 - bit.ly/aKCm5ZI understand that rings are different from a championship belt, which can probably more closely compared to the WS trophy (which has only undergone minor changes). Regardless, there's some precedent for an increase of flashiness over the years. That said, I'm not a fan of the spinner belt (or whatever we're calling it now that it doesn't spin). Like, not at all. Not because it looks like a toy (or a "bling-bling sideshow" per JBL), but because it just doesn't look right. It's an artifact from Cena's nonconformist past that just doesn't work today. Every mainstream belt has conformed to a pretty similar mold, and this one doesn't. It's squarish, it's plates don't really curve so it sits boxy around the waist, and even though it doesn't spin, the WWE logo (which is another relic from the past) is still set in there such that spinning is the first thing I think of when I look at it. (I'm a Cena fan, and my feelings about this belt have nothing to do with him--I hated the Rated-R one just as much)

I like it just fine. I'd take it over the eagle belt any day, truth be told - always thought it looked stupid.
Granted, favorite title will always be either the 1998-2002 or 2002-2005 one.
