I'm not that suprised Mickie is gone as had a feeling it would happen after they released Maria for the same reasons. Benjamin is great in the ring but can only go so far without an ounce of charisma. Kung Fu Naki-did Vince get a private detective to get that evidence back or what?

Comments Matt Hardy made on Twitter
"After 13 title reigns during my WWE career, I've more than exceeded what anyone ever expected from me-& I'm optimistic there's more to come."
"But I truly feel that I'll actually have more to offer to the industry with my mind than I could physically with my body in the long run..
"I have alot of projects going on currently.. But I love pro wrestling & it will always be in my blood. Always. It's given me a great life."
"You guys give me the motivation to push on with or without the help of the "machine".. I pride myself on being the "Self-Made Superstar""
Could he be next?

Mike Knox, please go to Japan and become the next great gaijin wrestler. Look what it did for A-Train.
The bloodletting is not over. I have a feeling either Matt Hardy or Mark Henry are next. Also all the left over ECW guys (Reks, Vance, Abe, Bryon, and Tony) probably on the chopping block.

Mickie James: I for one am actually glad she's gone. Not because I disliked her, far from it, but because hopefully now all the petty and childish flamebaiting that went on just because it ate some people alive that she had a fanbase here can come to an end. She looked like she lost a step or two ringwork wise as well, to be honest. She hit her prime right at the start with the psycho/lesbo gimmick.
Shelton Benjamin: Gutted about this one. I was always a Shelton fan even though it was obvious he couldn't talk. I loved watching him in the ring though. He was just one of those guys that I just liked, plain and simple.
Mike Knox: Aside from having an epic beard I never saw the big deal about him. Releasing him wont make any difference to any roster.
Funaki: Probably should have kept him around as he serves a purpose as a JTTS or comedy character now and then. I find it odd that he goes after Shawn Michaels retires since they were apparantly good friends.
Don't care about the rest...

I have one thing to say on this dark day... PLEASE KEEP KNOX! And for the love of all that is sacred, push the man! It'll be worth it, I promise! I hope you don't cry next Thursday when WWE finish their annual spring cleaning. I spoke too soon. They canned Knox yesterday.

May as well not have a micard anymore, just base each raw and smackdowon on the same guys and do away with the lower tier ones.Really disapointed by each of the releases to be honest,Katie Lea never had a chance to show what she was capable of,amazing wrestler and extremely beautiful,a real waste,Mickie had a good run,Shelton...he never had the charisma to get past the level he was at,loved funaki and Jimmy wang Yang no matter what anyone says about them and...well it sucks.

Holy shit.
Mickie's gone?! Surprising, she's one of the more popular Divas. This board's gonna melt. TNA & ROH will no doubt be interested.
Funaki was a guy I thought would never get sacked, surprised too. Talented but not the WWE mould. I expect him to either retire from in-ring or go back to Japan and reunite with Kaientai DeluX.
Benjamin Im disappointed with. Had all the talent in the world, they got behind him at first but for whatever reason it didnt work then they never got behind him again. Surprised though as he can always pop a crowd with his ringwork and his promos were getting better. Hope he goes to ROH, even better if ROH did a WGTT reunion to face the Kings of Wrestling.
Knox never really was used. I liked him but like most hosses, following the initial minipush he just segued into goofy jobberdom. Shame.
Katie Lea going doesnt surprise me but does disappoint me. She's head and shoulders above any of the other Divas on the roster-Beth & Naatalya included. However when Burchill was released her days had to be numbered. Surprised TNA havent picked Paul up despite their bloated roster. Katie would also be a great fit there and add a lot to the Knockouts.
Yang's not done anything since Moore left, Jesse the same since the Festus split. Shame for them but I cant say Im shocked.
Disappointed with a lot of these releases, shocked by the Mickie one. I figured she was going to be a mainstay for years.

{Spoiler}I'm sure I read in the SmackDown spoilers that Matt Hardy does a stretcher job or something, so maybe he's taking a hiatus. But with that and these releases, SmackDown's midcard is really taking a hit, unless they get the majority of them in the draft.

The only one that really surprises me is Shelton Benjamin, the other weren't being used more, and Mickie seemed to want to move into other fields. I wouldn't surprised if her release was a more mutual agreement. At least that finally drives a stake into the hearts of Mickie's white knights on the board and we can all move on. It wasn't mutual.

This times a TRILLION!!! Why should someone lose their job when somebody else isn't doing theirs? Gotta disagree. Great talent gets over despite terrible writing or a complete lack of it. Even when guys like Rock and Stone Cold had s***ty storylines written for them, they remained mega-over despite it. The analogy above reminds me of when NFL fans say that their bust QB would be amazing if he just had ___ and then go on to make a massive list like great O-Line, top notch WR's, good running game. Um, wouldn't EVERY QB look good if they had the NFC Pro Bowl roster surrounding them? Simply blaming creative and saying any of the released folks, including Shelton and Mickie would be the hottest thing in the biz if they just had a great angle written for them is the cheap way out...just my $0.02. I agree with this. Also, not everyone can be pushed, that's just the nature of the business. People are booked to win, people are booked to lose. TNA have a pretty packed roster, so the idea that a number of these guys (along with Burchill, Haas ect from the last set) are going to go to TNA and make the WWE rue this day is pretty far fetched. They can't push everybody either. All these guys/girl got to live their dream and work for the WWE, and all of them did the job they were asked well. It's sad that that is now over (for the time being anyway) but equally it gives other people a chance to be in the WWE.

MY onion on the releases.
Note, I think it sux anyone got released, I never wish that on any1.
1. Mickie James - Honestly she got old after her angle with trish and was never fun after that, her character was just lame and she never really done anything interesting. No big deal. Plus she tries to betray wrestling by doing music.
2. Katie Lea - This sux, she was mad funny looking with her goth makeup and I think she could have done more with it, like become like Luna and be all creepy and stuff, but I guess WWE didnt see that, also I was surprised she stated after her bro was fired.
3. Shelton Benjamin - No big deal, this guy was only good on ECW and has always sucked also he talks with a lisp like some rookie who just got on the mic and has been in WWE for YEARS and never got any better, I think he just mad lazy.
4. Funaki - Like everyone else said its a miracle he has been working so long.
5. Slam Master J - I dont know why he was hired in the first place.
6. Jimmy Wang Yang - Was only good as Akio, his Wang Yang gimmick is ASS.
I would bet money that Mark Henry is next.

I really hate this kind of mentality. It's not "betraying" wrestling by taking interest in something else. Wrestling was her job. That would be like me saying i'm "betraying" my job by playing video games in my spare time. The wrestling industry isn't the mafia, she didn't swear a blood oath and it doesn't own her.

Mike Knox: Aside from having an epic beard I never saw the big deal about him. Releasing him wont make any difference to any roster. He had surprisingly decent mic skills for a person like him, and his character ever since feuding with Rey and Evan Bourne was awesome.

....this sucks....that is all....
But at least I can look forward to "What's Alexis Laree doing in the Impact Zone?!?!?" Well I suppose it's not unreasonable to assume she asked for her release to focus on her music. I think it's just a shame she disappeared and didn't get a send off of any sort. She's decisively been the top face diva since Trish and Lita left, and held a total of 6 titles, which cements her in 2nd place for most reigns of all time. Now I'm bummed...

Out of all of those released I'm most dissapointed by Knox's. He doesn't have great mic skills, but he's good in the ring, a good monster and should've been pushed as so. I mean he can hit dropkicks and he took Kane's chockslam better then guys half his size. Yeah, but they screwed him up from Day One of the new ECW. They never did anything with him, honestly, but jobbing him was the worst possible move. Oh, well. That's life for you. Shelton's was surprising, but he has been in the Cycle I like to talk about, and they were never going to do anything with him. Yeah, I know, but does anyone really care enough about FCW to count it? Sure, without FCW we wouldn't have the great, innovative programming of NXT. I mean damn, man, they carry KEGS around between matches, I haven't seen stuff like that since I played Donkey Kong Country on my SNES. *imagines Cranky Kong hitting Darren Young with his cane*
