I can't help but wonder if Haas' recent interview in which he pretty much begged Shelton not to resign when his contract expired (It was almost up) so they can go to TNA or ROH had anything to do with Shelton's release.

Out of all of those released I'm most dissapointed by Knox's. He doesn't have great mic skills, but he's good in the ring, a good monster and should've been pushed as so. I mean he can hit dropkicks and he took Kane's chockslam better then guys half his size. Yeah, but they screwed him up from Day One of the new ECW. They never did anything with him, honestly, but jobbing him was the worst possible move. Hey Mike, the Valet Curse called, it said you're Just. Another. Victim.

Comments Matt Hardy made on Twitter "After 13 title reigns during my WWE career, I've more than exceeded what anyone ever expected from me-& I'm optimistic there's more to come." "But I truly feel that I'll actually have more to offer to the industry with my mind than I could physically with my body in the long run.. "I have alot of projects going on currently.. But I love pro wrestling & it will always be in my blood. Always. It's given me a great life." "You guys give me the motivation to push on with or without the help of the "machine".. I pride myself on being the "Self-Made Superstar"" Could he be next? It sounds like if he goes, he's going to be walking away on his own accord, like Jeff did.

sucks for people not having a job, but I'm not really going to notice any of those people are gone. couldn't it be this was actually her fault? Sure. And it can still also be that WWE has downright antediluvian methods of disciplining its employees. You like George R.R. Martin and you used the word antediluvian... nicely done, sir.

Simply blaming creative and saying any of the released folks, including Shelton and Mickie would be the hottest thing in the biz if they just had a great angle written for them is the cheap way out...just my $0.02. Neither I nor the person you're quoting ever said that, so I'm not sure who you're arguing against. Yes, there's precedent for wrestlers getting over despite bad writing. That does not justify paying people to produce bad writing, especially when you continue to do so while releasing capable talent, yet that's exactly what WWE's been doing for the past several years. Just my $0.02. You like George R.R. Martin and you used the word antediluvian... nicely done, sir. Tip of the gilded lion helm back atcha.

If Matt goes, can Justin Gabriel keep his music?
I like that song so much.

Mickie's release is being treated as the most shocking by most people but I thought it was coming for a while.
-she was 30, which is old by diva standards. -she had been there for years anyway, and none of the women ever last that long anyway. - they had supposedly told her several times to lose some weight and she didn't comply. And then they actually did a story that was designed specifically to pressure her to drop some pounds. -Attitude problems. -Issues with Cena. The way it was (cryptically) reported in the observer, it sounds like it was John Cena dumping her, and her getting too emotional about their fling and making him uncomfortable. I guess that should be a lesson to Dave Batista's bevy of beauties. -outside ventures. Which they hate.
Suprised she lasted that long to be honest.

Shocking list of releases. Can't say I'm upset to see Mickie and Shelton go. Women's wrestling as a whole bores me and Mickie hasnt done much of anything since the lesbian storyline. Shelton was good for a somersault or two in MITB but we have Bourne for that now. Kung Fui Naki is the one that surprises me.

Matt would be safe for atleast a couple more weeks right? It'd be weird if they fired him when he was in the middle of NXT.

Wrestleview is reporting that the "final straw" for Mickie James was that she was constantly late for the bus during the European Tour.
Apparently, this was discussed on The Observer.
If this is true, then either Mickie knew that she was on thin ice and did this deliberately to get released, or WWE is pretty petty to fire someone over this.
Also, JWY had an interesting Twitter comment - "Three strikes and you're out. I hear Florida is a nice place to visit"

They fired Maria right at the onset of her angle with Matt, so they will release someone in the middle of something. Besides, they do not have the pros do as much on NXT as they should anyways.

You eliminate Justin Gabriel, Matt Hardy leaves/gets released the next day with no strings attached to him, Gabriel shows up on Raw or SD eventually because I'm sure all of these guys are gonna make it on the roster regardless of NXT, and boom.

Meltzer mentioned in the observer a while ago that part of why Mickie was moved was because she was "getting emotional" over a relationship, and someone wanted her out of their hair. The obvious implication being she'd had a fling with someone in power, and now they wanted rid of her. She also got heat from management for causing problems for the person. People speculated over who it was, and then on the board when someone mentioned haring a story about them being a couple, Meltzer made made a post that heavily indicated it was true. The whole thing is made a ton more complicated by the fact that Cena was engaged around this time.

wow...
Benjamin: Despite his lack of the 'it' factor, he's been on WWE tv weekly for the best part of a decade....that would give him the star factor alone for him to be an asset for TNA, with or without mic skills.
Mickie: a little suprised as she's over, but for the last 6 months I think her heart hasn't been in it, reckon this is mutual, she wants to be a singer, the WWE has run out of stuff for her after 5 years. For the best for both parties. If her singing career flops I think she might make a return.
Funaki: Very suprised, but he is coming up to retirement age, he has business interests in Texas and they have Yoshi to do the Japan PR stuff.
JWY: I like him, but it appears to be wellness stuff and even if not he wasn't on TV enough to keep his job....will do fine in the indies
Jessie: Shame, his Slam master J character wasn't given enough of a chance. ROH would be better for him than TNA.
Katie: Again, nothing for her to do, the divas on RAW get 5 mins a show and there's 4- divas more over than her, no chance. Indies or Modelling I guess. Good luck to her.
Knox: Bad decision IMO, thought he was being groomed to take over Kane's role as 'monster hoss who loses a lot but stays over'....he could have done well there. Expect to see him in Japan or TNA.
