from 411mania.com: According to Wrestling Observer, Mickie James was released because she was late for the bus on more than one occasion during the European tour, which hld up travel plans. That was her last strike, going back to her being sent to SmackDown as a discplinary measure Well, this is interesting.

Mickie james was a 5 time women's champion and 1 time Divas champion, and she gets dumped so unceremoniously. Hell, Shelton's a multiple time US/IC champ and he got kicked to the curb with no love as well.

I'm disappointed about Shelton's release, He should have been given the ball back in 2005.
Mickie wasn't long for the company anyway, since she wants to be a country star and the Piggy James segments forced her to see the writing on the wall.
Katie Lea should have at least gotten a Diva or a Women's Championship reign.
The other 3? Who Knows.

Mickie's gone? Well, there goes the only good female worker in the entire company. As for Shelton Benjamin, wondering what prompted that but certainly won't miss him. I'm going to miss Mickie too, but how much can you possibly know wbout the divas if you think she was the only good worker? Beth's a good worker. Melina's a good worker. Gail Kim is a great worker. Natalya is a great worker. Katie WAS a good one of course Mickie too. Jillian is actually a good worker and so is Michelle McCool. The rest suck though. Just a difference of opinion, I guess. McCool's passable, but so terribly bland I don't care, and I don't at all like Melina. Natalya and Beth are okay, just never cared for them and Gail Kim has done nothing but stink up the ring since she came to WWE. Plus, Katie and Jillian were / are total jobbers so do they really count?

Per PWInsider: * Mickie James was signed to WWE developmental in 2005 after a run in Ring of Honor. She was brought to the main roster as a Trish Stratus stalker and eventually became one of the company's top babyface females, holding the Women's championship five times and the Divas championship once. As we reported earlier this week in the PWInsider.com Elite section, there was some heat on James for conduct on the European tour as she caused several of the tour buses to be late. There was a feeling among some that given that she had just beaten a bad staph infection and was lucky to return in time for Wrestlemania, she should have been conducting herself a little more professional. Among some of the wrestlers, she was on their "most endangered" list after the tour. There had been heat on and off on her at different times for attitude, which some dismissed to me as jealousy over James' intentions to branch out outside the wrestling world with her education and musical aspirations. There was some unhappiness from the veterans' over her reaction to being moved to Smackdown last year as well. No one could deny her work in the ring and in a lot of ways, her departure is surprising as she had a strong connection with fans. She'll have an advantage over many released talents in that she has been using her real name the entire run. . She was actually signed to developmental in 2003.

Your right, looking at the roster in 98, there are 8 guys left. Hunter, Taker, Kane, Matt Hardy, Regal, Goldust, Edge, and Christian. But the ones in bold aren't long for WWE or wrestling though. I think you should have Edge in bold too, with his past history of major injuries, and now coming back from an Achilles tear (which is one of the most serious injuries, especially in a physical sport/role), he's on thin ice. I fear for the guy every time he steps in the ring now. Back on topic, regarding Mickie, I think this is Vince's way of telling his superstars "You want to pursue another career that doesn't involve the WWE? Well good, go right ahead, I hope it works out for the best!" and then secretly puts their contracts through a shredder. What, you think I'm jumping to conclusions? Maria says "Hello". Jericho, don't pick up your phone. Also, I think I just heard TNA cream themselves in their pants. "It's a goldmine, brother!" I wouldn't worry about Jericho. He is tons more valualbe than Mickie and Maria combined. Add to that the fact that he already has Fozzy, has left and come back while doing that, and wrote a book, Id say he's fine.

Funaki was actually fired a few years ago, but because of a glitch in payroll, he kept getting a paycheck. They fixed the glitch. Mickie was looking to get out, anyway. I doubt she'll show up in another fed unless she absolutely has to. Shelton's going to be X division champ next month, because God knows Hogan can't push the home grown talent. Shelton has to wait three months before he can do that.

No, she isn't. She's horrifically sloppy, and is almost as injury prone as Ashley/Kennedy.

If you think I will stop watching WWE... you're wrong. As much as I love Mickie, I was a fan for 13 years before she arrived, and there will always be something that will keep me watching. I just won't have the same level of love.

sucks for people not having a job, but I'm not really going to notice any of those people are gone. So basically they were just looking for a reason to give her one more strike. couldn't it be this was actually her fault? Sure. And it can still also be that WWE has downright antediluvian methods of disciplining its employees.

The shining light in this very dark day for the Mickie fans is that it'll be easier to stalk her as she's bound to appear to your local indy fed/ autograph convention in the near future.

Mickie James and Shelton Benjamin gone? Yet another reason (as if I needed one) not to wanna watch WWE's shows.
Between this, HBK retiring, John Cena having another f***ing title run, and Smackdown about to move off free TV, you guys may not see me around here for a while, in this section at least.
Granted Shelton wasn't doing much, he still was one of my faves. Maybe he can now have some matches against Kenny King in ROH or some other indy promotion?

I just realized that Shelton could follow the steps of Brock Lesner and go MMA. He's still young to do it and his amateur wrestling skills are strong enough to try.
