John Cena: Smartest Wrestler Alive So true. He couldn't keep Batista down with the STF, the FU, the FU through the announce table or anything else. And considering Batista's character is based on pride and ego, this was quite the comeuppance.

That match was just as good as Umaga/Cena from RR2007.

Funny thing is I asked why people didn't win a LMS match like that a couple of yrs. ago, though I thought of handcuffing their legs to either the bottom or middle rope, then they can't stand.

I had hoped for a more epic ending to the Cena/Batista match, something along the lines of when Cena put JBL's head through a TV screen or Big Show chokeslamming Cena through the stage light. The duct tape thing was...interesting. Whatever. It was an alright main event.
The best match of the night, for my money, was Edge vs. Jericho. For the last year or two I find myself almost always liking the Jericho match best on any card. This was a really entertaining bout, and these guys really redeemed themselves after the somewhat lackluster 'mania match.
Just a few more random thoughts about the PPV, I'm really glad Sheamus won, the Swagger/Orton match rocked, I'm surprised but kinda glad JTG won, Big Show is awesome and underrated and Miz is overrated.

My Extreme Rules Thoughts:
Gaunlet Match: ShoMiz vs. Morrison & Truth, MVP & Herny & The Hart Dynasty The matches were long, but there was some good action and The HD getting thee win wasn’t shocking, but this was fun way to open the PPV.
CM Punk’s Hair On The Line: CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio: Started off slow, but picked was a really good match. Punk got the win he needed and it looksd like we got another SES member, but who?
Strap Match: JTG vs. Shad This was ok match that I enjoyed. The strap shots were really good. I was surprised JTG got the win.
Extreme Rules Match For The WHC: Jack Swagger vs. Randy Orton Yeah it lacked EXTREME, but the trash can shots were good and Orton back bump on the open chair was very good. Overall this match went better then I expected and I thought it was really good.
Street Fight: Triple H vs. Sheamus WOW! was this boring or what? It kind of picked up the end, but with Trips selling his neck the match didn’t need to go 15 minutes, if they cut out like 5/7 minutes this would’ve been ok. Atleast Sheamus got the win.
Extreme Makeover Match For The Women’s title: Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix Well I enjoyed this and it was much better then most Diva’s matches. However in my opinion these are WWE’s 2 best Diva’s and you put them in this match? No, it should’ve been a I Quit or Submission match.
Cage Match: Edge vs. Chris Jericho I’m a fan of storytelling, but this match was FLAT! It had a sick springboard codebreak, but they started off real slow and it picked up, but then went slow again. Very disappointing match, VERY!
Last Man Standing Match For The WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Batista When I looked at my clock I figure this match wasn’t going to live up to my expections and well it still didn’t it, but it came VERY close though.
It start slow with Batista working over Cena, but picked up with spot after spot, finishers & secondary moves through tables and both guys getting up at the split second. Very exciting because I thought the match was over when Cena hit the Attitude Ajustment on the announce table, but Tista got back up.
Now the finish will be like, but mostly hated however I liked it and though it was creative. Cena duct tape Tista legs to the ring post so Tista lost. I liked this because both guys already got up from SUPER moves, so it made sense that was the only way someone was going to win.
Overall: A ok/pretty good, but disappointing PPV as well. Jericho/Edge should’ve been better.

Hated the duct tape ending. It was a heel's finish, and I thought it made Cena look like a coward. Not that I liked Cena to begin with anyway, but....
I did like the Sheamus finish. Hopefully, they'll build on that, probably with a program with Cena. Though I would like to see Punk and the SES in a lengthy feud with Cena.

I've never been a huge fan of cage matches, but tonight was still kind of a let down. For example, many times Jericho could have easily won the match by simply walking out the door. Not to mention the spot when he was almost out the door but instead continued the match.
I know these cages are a former shell of what they used to be, but when the height of the cage is so low, it really looks silly when it takes Jericho forever to climb out of it. It was very clear he was stalling multiple times for Edge to grab him. Many times he was just hanging by the top, waiting for Edge to come over.
The tag team gauntlet match was no surprise. Seriously, why have ShowMiz beat 2 other teams? Why not just have The Hart Dynasty come out to begin with? It doesn't even make any sense. Teddy Long punished ShowMiz by adding teams, so this was an improv match. If so, why were so many tag teams just waiting backstage in their wrestling gear? What if Miz didn't run his mouth? Would they just pack up and go home? Also, way to screw over your PAYING audience by having the title match be on Raw rather then the PPV. __________________

There were some good moments, some bad moments, but all in all it was an enjoyable PPV, even if it wasn't "extreme" per se. Even though I hate Cena to death, I loved his finish in the main event, even if I would have loved to see Batista turn the tide. I'll have to agree. Edge/Jericho was pretty lame. The highlight was a depantsing, and there was some bad acting all around. Sheamus/HHH was a decent match, even if it didn't go outside. There's something really interesting about a wrestler (kayfabe) risking his health to continue a match. When the most extreme match at an Extreme Rules PPV is a Divas match, it should say something about the quality. But no, even the Divas match (usually a piss break) was decent. All in all, I liked it, it was well worth staying up for, and I'd love to see the HHH/Sheamus angle continue
