The heart punch is a pretty dumb move conceptually, but a big guy like John Studd doing it makes it seem less ridiculous.
The Garvin Stomp outright sucked.
However, the Overdrive (a move where you basically grind your own knee into the mat) seems like a very strong contender for worst finisher ever...I would argue, worse than the Garvin Stomp.
Points/counterpoints?

Wade Barrets finished is pretty weak now. But as far as moves go The Worm/Peoples Elbow are out right insulting. I never had a problem with the Overdrive.

Wade Barrets finished is pretty weak now. But as far as moves go The Worm/Peoples Elbow are out right insulting. I respectfully disagree. As for Wade Barrett, this is 2010 WWE we're talking about...safe style plus PG kids friendly. Considering that the most devastating submission hold in the current WWE product is an STF, and the 2nd most devastating submission is a sleeper, Barrett was allowed to use a pretty decent-looking finisher. He's not using an inverted DDT/neckbreaker, like Lance Vance and all the developmental rejects who came before him. RE: The Worm, it serves a specific purpose, to get crowds warmed up. Having babyface Scotty 2 Hotty finish the opening match with the Worm does a beautiful job of warming up the crowds for the rest of the show. When used in that capacity, The Worm worked GREAT. RE: The People's Elbow, Rocky specifically used it to get heel heat as the Corporate Champion, and boyyyy did it work. It worked GREAT. It continued to get a great reaction after he turned face and went well with Rocky's generally blustery character. I think it worked fine for what it was. The Overdrive is neither a big ballyhoo-inducing crowd-pleaser like The Worm or The People's Elbow, nor does it look in any way painful or able to put someone away. It doesn't serve any kind of purpose so far as I can tell.

The Overdrive is more of a boring move.
But yeah, it sucks, too.

To me, the worst finisher is the one than can cause the most injury. I'm tempted to say the diving headbutt. Or a Cena match.

HAS to be Cenas Finish. Been watching WWF since 1989 at aged 5 and even THEN i wouldnt have bought that a standing firemans carry can win a world title match!

I would agree with the Overdrive. To me, the worst finishers are the ones with the most complicated setup and/or the vaguest way to hurt someone. I've been told how the Overdrive is supposed to hurt, and it still doesn't make sense.
I really want MVP to do the Shining Drive-By Kick again.

The garvin stomp wasn't a finisher if I remember right.
he usually did that to set up the "hands of stone' punch to knock the guy out.

Christian's Uprettier/Killswitch always looks REALLY awkward and convaluted.

I did like when Garvin used the sharpshooter Scorpion Deathlock "reverse figure-four leglock" in his WWF run. Even back then I thought it was a cool-looking move.

Christian's Uprettier/Killswitch always looks REALLY awkward and convaluted. It does look more impactful than the Overdrive though. Duggan's 3-point stance clothesline is a contender for the worst. Doesn't even look like it hurts.

Which was worse: the three-point stance, or the "Old Glory" knee drop? I'd say the clothesline edges it. Hansen, Bradshaw, Wolfe - all 3 examples of how to make the move look devastating. Duggan's looks like he barely touches them.

I'm not a fan of the Killswitch either, but it's been with Christian for so long that I tolerate it.

It's sort of amazing that the legdrop was ever used as a finisher, as, when done properly, it would have almost no force to it. But any finisher that looks like it hurts the user as much as the person hit, like the flying headbutt, would be even worse.

Heart Punch can legit kill you. The Garvin Stomp is brutal if its sold right ex. The person reviving it is trying to get away while the guy doing it is just circling, and stomping different body parts. Usually though it did look lame when the guy would just lay there and let Garvin stomp him.
As for the worst ever I once saw a Japanese promotion where a fat guy laid down on the mat and literally rolled over top of his opponent.

Wrestling moves aren't supposed to actually hurt, so that's a good thing. As for whether it looks like it should imagine 300 lbs dropping onto your throat.

It's not supposed to actually hurt, but you expect them to look like they have some force. And it's not dropping 300 pounds on you. It'd be 300 pounds if the wrestler was doing a double foot stomp or a bonzai drop, but not with a leg drop. The only weight falling on you is the part of the leg that's falling, usually the back of the knee or calf, and even that's not going to come down with that much force as most of it is going to be dispersed by the backside when it hits the mat.

If he finished it more like the Death Valley Driver and spiked the guy's shoulders into the mat, OK. But to just have them land flat is even less impressive than a standard bodyslam. Cena only started using the fireman's as a dig at Brock Lesnar's F-5 anyway. I can't remember for the life of me what he did for a finish before that, though.
