It's not supposed to actually hurt, but you expect them to look like they have some force. And it's not dropping 300 pounds on you. It'd be 300 pounds if the wrestler was doing a double foot stomp or a bonzai drop, but not with a leg drop. The only weight falling on you is the part of the leg that's falling, usually the back of the knee or calf, and even that's not going to come down with that much force as most of it is going to be dispersed by the backside when it hits the mat. the leg should hit the throat or chest before the ass hits the mat. As that one leg is the only thing landing that's supporting weight for at least a second your opponent's throat is the only thing holding up your entire body's weight. Neither of those points makes sense to me. First off, your weight is never being supported by the person's neck. Even if it did take a full second before the rest of the body with the ground, all your weight wouldn't magically be transferred to your calf, nor would the person taking the move magically begin holding up body. Secondly, force is equal to mass times acceleration. It doesn't matter if the leg is hitting first (and I'd argue that it doesn't, as the leg will always, at best, be held out horizontally from the pelvis, but most every time I see the move the leg is always bent such that they hit at the same time). The force is always going to be the weight of what's hitting by the rate it's falling, which is gravity in the case of a leg drop. At best, it's only ever going to be a minor impact, and a normal punch is probably going to be carrying a lot more force.

Steve Corino's sliding lariat is pretty lame.

I think The Overdrive is awesome. Could you explain? I can't, for the life of me, see anything good about that finisher.

It doesn't work for you, for me it looks like a move that should crush your throat.

I've always thought this move looked ridiculous.

What about Kevin Sullivan's double foot stomp? That probably was a lot worse then the overdrive.

I watched a match today where the winner used a russian leg sweep to win the match. It was from 1983 though. Imagine a russian leg sweep as a finisher now.....

^ It was dumb but made sense. Take a thumb to the throat and see how you feel.

It doesn't work for you, for me it looks like a move that should crush your throat. A kayfabe issue? No, it's just an execution issue. It's not easy to keep a leg completely straight and perpendicular to the body when you're falling, as you're fighting gravity as well as preparing for the drop. But even if it was, it's never going to be a 300 pound drop on the throat, it's more like a light bump. Even the derided 5-knuckle-shuffle could carry more force.

The Overdrive is more of a boring move. But yeah, it sucks, too. But hey!!! It's awful nice of the opponent to use his free hand to steady adn hold the appliers leg so he can complete the move before his leg slips off........right

Jeff Jarrett and The Sandman are blushing. Brad Armstrong was doing it in WCW all the way up to 1998. Like in the match against Golbderg as SB 8, were we supposed to be suprised when Goldberg no sold it? He should of 4th walled the viewers and looked at the camera and just rolled his eyes after jumping up.

I never got Sting's Scorpion Death Drop. Looked like he hurt his own back worse than his opponent's head.
