There is no one who can honestly fit there. TCU is not going to leave Mountain West. And having a Utah school in the same division as Baylor is kinda stretching it. And Baylor/Houston is till more interesting then anything MAC has to offer. Which really brings into question the idea of whether they could survive if they had to replace that many big names. If there is no one who could begin to replace it, then there's little worth saving. Let's face the facts, the Big 12 is Texas, OU and Nebraska. Others may rise up on occasion, but those are your money-teams in football in that conference. I get what you're trying to do, stick with teams in larger markets and hope to bring those markets in, but you just can't replace those teams unless you can snag major teams from other, bigger conferences. Baylor (seriously, Baylor? Is that the team we want to build a division around?) would play Houston in that marquee matchup once a year, and it'd gain no national attention. After that they'd be playing the likes of SMU and Tulane. Better than the MAC? That is the MAC. At this point, replacing them with teams like that would be like replacing an engine with a cardboard cutout of an engine and expecting the car to go. Replacing one or two teams, sure. Beyond that, it's conference implosion time. Yea, its obvious that the conferance is going to die. But the story was the rejects wanted to live on. And that they would make a heartland conference. There is no doubt they will go their own way, but if they try to salvage the conferance, they will go for schools in their region.

True. If they only had to replace 5, I could see Houston making the cut. If they could poach at will from non-BCS conferences, Boise State would have been ideal too. But I think if they want to survive, they'll have to look for teams that either excel in one sport or have made waves in the rankings in the past. BYU TCU Memphis Utah and either Air Force or Houston TCU does not want to leave Mountian West, plus they hate Baylor.lol The best bet is to get WAC and CUSA schools. And adding Tulsa still gets some attention into OK as its the number 3 school. South Baylor SMU Houston Tulsa Tulane/Memphis Kansas K State Iowa State Missou Memphis/Utah Tulsa is Oklahoma's #3 school simply cause it is the third biggest, and the only other Division-I school in the state. Our fourth biggest school, and it is arguably BIGGER than Tulsa, is the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, and that is a DIVISION-III school!

Tulsa is private, tiny (not even 4200 students TOTAL), and academically driven. It wouldn't be a blip on the radar in terms of anchoring Oklahoma for the Hypothetical Zombie Big XII.

Like, sure, they could add Tulsa. But at the end of the day, it wouldn't do them much good.

True, BUT, you gotta admit, they are a solid mid-card strength team. I mean they do pretty well in the C-USA, and even give some of the major conference teams a tough match from time to time.

SEC Commissioner Mike Silve is in College Station and in talks with Texas A&M officials, according to texags.com. US Rep. Joe Barton(Texas) is on record as wanting A&M in the SEC, according to College Football Talk. Edit: TCU is reportedly trying to keep the Mountain West from bringing in Baylor, according to Dallas Morning News, apparently as revenge for Baylor getting the last Big XII invite when that conference first formed. Baylor may get a chance at the SEC, but they'll more likely have to settle for Conference USA, given the situation that they are in and how they're considered "small fries". That was what I spoke to on a show Saturday morning... 'course, I went a little crazy and also talked about how bad Greece's soccer team was and the need to contract or transfer the Pittsburgh Pirates. Just go to www.1070thefan.com , search for "Voice of the Fan", and go to the episode that says "Johnston and Kyle". Yours truly speaks his gibberish in the "Notre Dame Goes To The Big Ten" segment. I need help... and that isn't because of my bad speaking voice.

Personally, I just find it hilarious. I almost wish they'd all bolt to the Big East just to screw with people now.

Nevermind that noise, they're joining the Sun Belt. North Texas is the new Oklahoma to the Longhorns.

Both wrong, I'm announcing through fakefootballnews.com that they will join the Southern NY football conference. It'll be them, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Missouri...and Fordham

Joe Schad seems to be standing by his report and Orangebloods is standing by theirs. Looks like we got ourselves a good old fashioned Mexican Standoff. We'll see which one blinks tomorrow.

Hold a press conference and have Mack Brown come out as a recruit. Let him pick between a Big 12 and a Pac 10 hat.

This is just getting downright stupid at this point. It's like a multiple vehicle car wreck: unsightly, yet you can't stop watching.

There have been some that think Schad has been getting played by Big XII mouthpieces this whole time. I'm not sure if he has or hasn't because I honestly don't know everything, but I do know that the New York Times did seem to back up his story about Texas staying. If, after all this, the Big XII stays intact (minus Colorado and Nebraska), my head may explode.

I know I may be in the minority, but I'd love to see Texas in the SEC...just seems like a better fit than the Pac-10 to me...
