I know he can't bump on risk of death, but did anyone else enjoy the short ass kicking he gave Heath Slater last night? Good punches on the turnbuckle, scoop slam, atomic drop.

I did enjoy it. And I pondered it.
To my knowledge Slater was the longest serving developmental wrestler before being called up, and he had indy experience before that.
He's also probably lighter than Hart.
He's also just coming in, with no spot to protect, so he wouldn't care about selling to somebody who can't sell back.
So he's probably one of the better positioned wrestlers to work with Hart where Bret will be safe and be able to hit more of his spots on a lighter and somewhat experienced wrestler.

I thought Bret looked great, considering his limited range of things he could do.

I was impressed by Bret last night. I mean he was no Daniel Bryan, but for an 50 odd year old stroke victim he was moving pretty well, and not stumbling around like a frail old man like he had been doing.
It was a good use of him in my opinion

I thought he did pretty good. I just dont figure why he suddenly decided to release the sharpshooter and go for the shiny chair like some ADHD child.

Nexus tried to maim Bret earlier in the summer with that limo attack. Bret sees the chair, and with still being PO'd over the limo assault, decides to get payback.

Here's hoping that's the last time he ever wrestles.

He hit all of his moves pretty crisply - still the Excellence of Execution after all these years and a stroke.

He was doing far better than usual, until the chair. Figures that the veteran, an all time great, forgot that if you hit dudes with a chair it's a DQ.

I thought they used Bret perfectly considering the situation. In reality his offense looked a hell of a lot better than Hogan or Flair's.
I'm actually quite impressed with how well the WWE has treated him since his return to be honest. It's almost like they're trying to give a better ending to his WWE career than the one he had in 97. Good for Bret and good for WWE.

By disqualifying himself from the match??? Bret looked solid in the ring, but him using the chair was dumb. They should have gone for the count-out to get him eliminated.

Bret did really well! I'm wondering if he really has been training. I think it also helps that he had a younger guy in there to bump for him. If they could plan out a really safe match where Bret's bumps were limited, It'd be nice to see him get in shape, throw on the pink and black and go out there one more time. I think that might be his ultimate goal, but who knows.

He looked 100% better then he did in his "match" with Vince. His punches actually looked pretty good last night and he def looks better then Hogan at this stage of the game. He just needs to work on his cardio a little, he seemed to be sucking wind pretty quickly out there. I still think he could pull off a decent match with the right guy.

I was one of those people who was legitimately worried about his involvement in the match, and though I agree that getting him eliminated via DQ was a little silly, it was probably necessary; and I wouldn't doubt that Bret himself suggested the idea. The way it was done might have looked a little contrived, but I would argue that it does make sense, as some people have stated, in that Nexus had maimed him, and that pin wouldn't have been proper revenge. And in terms of the match, the chairshot led to Skip's elimination, the guy that had just eliminated two people.
And of course, Bret looked great. I realize that the match with McMahon was to test the waters to see how much Hart could "go" still, which enabled them to craft his increased (yet still safe) involvement in a match. I do think that he will (and should) get to be part of one more match in the future (because Hall of Famers don't go out on a DQ) I think we can all at least agree that he can go out with a little more dignity than the 'Mania match, which I thought was sub-par at best (and far too long!)
Maybe a Survivor Series Match where he, the Hart Dynasty and Daniel Bryan take on Team "Miz" would be a good way to use him in a similar manner as last night.

I wonder how substantiated the "can't bump on risk of death" thing is.
It's still surreal. We are talking about a current Bret Hart match in 2010...

It looked really good, best he's looked since he came back. I know the McMahon match was pretty crap but I enjoyed it anyway. This was much better though and made me realise he can do more than we thought. I'm sure he could bump if he really had to, it's just that it isn't worth the risk.
