On the note of Dead Space ( Which is arguably the best TPS ever in my opinion) How about any of the death scenes? Those are scary as hell and ypu can see in the necromorphs face, a look of almost hunger.. Eh, I don't know. They're really gory, sure, but that in itself is not scary. The only death animation in Dead Space that got any sort of reaction from me was the one where Isaac gets decapitated and has his head replaced by one of those disembodied head creatures, that was creepy as hell. And that didn't even happen to me during the game, I only saw it later on in a death montage on Youtube. Dead Space in general was more creepy than scary anyway, and towards the end it just became boring if you ask me. The gameplay was so repetitive that you pretty much saw everything the game had to offer by the halfway point, and after that you'd just go around doing whatever fetch quest your mission control sent you on and blasting your way through a horde of necromorphs. I see what you mean. To each his own I guess.

How could I have forgotten? Ravenholm in Half-Life 2. God, that was some good atmosphere.
Also, for those who love Nightmare Fuel, here is what the headcrab zombies sound like when played backwards:

The Loot Midgets in Borderlands The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. First playthrough, you're looting through for ammo, money or weapons and randomly... BOOM! Psycho midget in your face.

The music is enough to make me want to forget these near unkillable things! (First time you encounter them anyway)

Killer Croc's lair in Arkham Asylum What was so scary about that? Sure it was a bitch to do, but not really scary.

Resident Evil 4, Nintendo Wii. It's not so much a case of "ahhh, f***...zombies", although that plays a part, but mostly, "good christ, I can't get these controls to operate at anything near playable" all the while, there's a guy coming forward, wanting to eat your brain.

The music is enough to make me want to forget these near unkillable things! (First time you encounter them anyway) Combining the music with the heavy gasping that the creature makes, makes it even scarier.

In Earthbound, when you go to Threed. Yeah, Nintendo pioneered the Zombie Invasion in Video Games. Although, in all fairness, the abandoned shopping mall is the one that scares me.

Pretty much the whole game: Titanic - Adventure Out of Time. It was very creepy.
The 'Toasty' guy from Mortal Kombat scared the crap out of me when I was little. I always thought he was saying Whoopsies.

Guys, if you are going to post a video of a scene that makes you jump or anything like that, please put a warning before it.

I should also give a shout out to one of the first video games to ever truly scare me...believe it or not, it was Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness. What got me about that game was largely the ambiance, and the first appearance of actual vampires besides Dracula in a CV game. Also, the music worked very well in some levels in establishing a very creepy feeling, and for 12-13 year old me, who had been raised on Genesis and SNES games, seeing it all in 3-D graphics had me unsettled at times. It was also the first CV game where a vampire's bite could infect you, and where people were actually depicted being turned into vampires. Beyond that, the true ending the game depicts {Spoiler}Cornell's son possessed by the ghost of the real Dracula, and becoming him...that is to say, Cornell's 10 year old son. Creeeeeepy. And, hell, see if you can look up some decent pre-renderings of fake Dracula from that game, he looks terrifying. EDIT: And OH JESUS how could I forget being chased through a hedge maze by Cerberus dogs AND a giant chainsaw-hand sporting Frankenstein's Monster while having to protect a little kid?! GAAAAAAH!!!

The beginning of Justice League Task Force scared me because the first time I played it was at night with the lights off when I was a kid. Oh God, the Supermullet is in full effect in that game. That's truly terrifying...
