So, occasionaly, it happens. Sometimes, a remake actually surpasses the original. Its very rare, but it has happened.
So what are some that you consider better than the original?
For me its this:
Movies:
Songs:
Post some of yours.

Anytime Metallica covers a song, except when it's a song by Mötorhead or Diamond Head.

I personally liked Enter Sandman (Motorhead's Cover) and Metal Gods (Fozzy's Cover)

Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" is 1,000 times better than the original.
I prefer Metallica's version of "Whiskey In The Jar" over any other.
I liked the Halloween remake over the original but I've never really cared for the series as a whole. The Halloween 2 remake though is one of the biggest pieces of crap ever put on film.

No way is the GnR cover better than Bob Dylan's. Not even close.

No way is the GnR cover better than Bob Dylan's. Not even close. For me, other than Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35, I just really don't like Bob Dylan. I think Guns took his song and really made it their own, like they did with Live and Let Die, except I think Paul McCartney's version is better.

Little Shop of Horrors.
It's far more memorable than the original.

The Ten Commandments - it was a remake done by the same director, except now there were such things as color, sound and Charleton Heston.

Bobby Darin's cover of ''If I were a carpenter'' had more impact and was considered 'better' than the original by Tim Hardin.

The whole soundtrack to "Stubbs the Zombie". It's modern bands covering songs from the 50's, and it freaking rules.
