Jed Shaffer ~It takes BALLS to do such a cover. Damn straight. Almost makes me like the original. Almost. Sorry, KISS fans. Nothing personal. It is the Melvins after all.

"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley is so freaking beautiful, the original song is good, but it just cannot compare. This is true, and then Myles Kennedy came along and covered Buckley's version. He took perfection and sprinkled it with powdered victory. In fact, Kennedy and his band, Alter Bridge, did one of my all time favorite covers of all time, live at the Download festival a few years back -- their version of Kashmir is SO good.

Rod Stewart's version had more impact than Tim Hardin's original.

Man Of Constant Sorrow - Oh Brother Where Art Thou
Noboby today really knows where the very first version comes from.

I absolutely detest the original. Flame away. I was going to post that, so I totally agree.

Some people prefer Ugly Kid Joe's version of Cats in the Cradle.

I'm probably the only person on this earth who thinks that the Nathan Lane / Matthew Broderick "Producers" is better than the original. Go ahead, smite me! It's not on YouTube (sadly), but I prefer the Prissteens' version of the song "Sorrow" over the others (The McCoys, The Merseys, David Bowie.) As much as I think that The Beatles' White Album is a masterpiece, I think John Denver's take on "Mother Nature's Son" is somewhat superior to the original. And then, there's this: Nuff said. P.S. I've also heard of Robert Johnson (he sold his soul to me actually.. ), and, Pining For Kim Pine, YOU DE MAN!!!

One of the greatest covers would be Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe" (All Along the Watchtower by Jimi is my favorite song of all time)

It's hard to even say this since I'm a big fan of Black Sabbath, but this is an amazing version:
A lot of people don't even realize this is a cover! The original version by Joe Jackson is VERY different...

Wow, I didn't know anybody had covered Goin' Blind of all songs. It's slower than the original, but I'll admit it's damn good at the same time

Had to post it here since it just got put up on YouTube. I'm not going to call it better than the original, because the original is a timeless classic, but KWS comes freakin' close.
But if you want me to throw my two cents in, here you go.
