This isn't bad
but this cover
and especially this cover
are better. BTW, I have no idea why the Top Notes video has the right song but uses old pics of the Beatles for the images.

This
combined with this
led to this awesomeness
BTW, George Thorogood and the Destroyers have made quite a number of high quality covers over the years.

Metallica- Turn the page. I will understand this statement only if you are too young to have actually enjoyed Bob Seager. Because if you are old enough to have actually listened to and enjoyed him and still believe this than I believe you may have something loose inside your skull.

Yeah, the Metallica cover is decent and all but Seagar got it right the first time like he always does.

Some would say that Travis Meeks's version of ''The End'' is better than the original by The Doors.

Jimi Hendrix's Version of "All Along The Watchtower" (I hate Bob Dylan's voice beyond belief)
Nirvana's cover of "Love Buzz"
Alien Ant Farm's version of "Smooth Criminal" (I was never a big MJ fan)

I actually think this is 100 times better than the slow and unbearably long original version:

I'll definitely concur with "Smooth Criminal." Saw them in concert when they first broke through. They asked the crowd if there were any MJ fans and we were all like "ummmm, yyaaaaa." Then they broke into Smooth Criminal and the crowd loved it.
And this may be considered blasphemous but......

"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley is so freaking beautiful, the original song is good, but it just cannot compare.

"Cry Baby" by Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters is really good but the version by Janis Joplin is amazing.

A radio station here in Chicago has a great thing where they will play 30 seconds or so of one or two versions of the same song before playing the most popular one (ex: the two other versions of twist and shout before the Beatles version) with a little backstory for each one.

This thread begins and ends with two songs:
All Along The Watchtower(Hendrix owned the song) Hurt(Cash was BORN to sing that song, also it sounds more 'real' coming from a man at death's door than a multimillionaire with a perpetual hardon)

Finally...FINALLY!!! Someone else here has heard of Robert Johnson. That is really, really, amazing to me. Bravo to you, good sir.
Do you know how hard it is to get anyone to listen to his music nowadays?

Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful world is a great version Debatable, as they are both great, but the guitar work is just great here. Definitely at least on par with the original. Here is a great list. www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_coversongs.html

Johnny Cash really knocked out some amazing covers on American IV. Hurt is definitely the best, but Personal Jesus and Desperado were great too.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Elvis's covers of Blue Suede Shoes and Hound Dog? I don't really even need to post them for you to hear them in your head, so here are the originals.
