I thought people liked Fraction. is there a list somewhere of writers that people hate, possibly portable and able to take with me on the go? The general opinion of Fraction is that some people believe his Iron Man run didn't entirely suck (Me among them). The rest of his work is generally not appreciated. The other real big one is Jeph Loeb. You'd be hard-pressed to find a fan of him these days.

I'd bet JRjr will have that honor. we could only be so lucky. Marvel likes to trot him out just because of who his dad was and act like he's some kind of artistic genius to justify his shitty artwork.

I think his sons death played a part in him losing it.

It's going to sound screwed up (as it always does), but he's blown as a writer ever since Sam died. It clearly messed him up, and giving him such a large amount of control over storylines and major characters while his mind's in the state it is....is just not a good idea. And yet, it's been years with no signs of it changing.

yeah. it's really an elephant in the room, because it's obvious he's still not over it. and it'd be mean to just ell him to get over it. but at the same time, even if he can't get past it, which I completely 100% understand and would stand behind him on, he really needs to stop writing about it. it's gotten past the point of any pathos and just cheapens his kid's memory at this point.

I can't say the same for Chuck Austen's run, Now THAT was dire Yeah, I really don't hate Fraction on X-Men (I particularly dig Dr. Nemesis, who he's made me a big fan of, and Fantomex). I just wanted to briefly bitch about Greg Land. Though Wilce Portacio's artwork these past couple issues hasn't rocked my socks, either. DAMMIT, why couldn't we keep Terry Dodson on the series? I was diggin' that s*** so hard!

Period. He's dependable, delivers on time and the books he works on move off the shelves. Who his father is has nothing to do with it. Maybe when he was first getting in the business, but that was a very long time ago. JRJr wouldn't have survived countless regime changes if he didn't deliver.

Definitely fits as head science...guy now that Beast has had enough of Cyclops' dark secrets and quit the X-Men to go be part of Captain America's dark secret team.

I dont think anyone was criticising his ability to get the art in on time, just that they dont like the style of it. I like his backgrounds and buildings, but not his people and faces.

You don't like an artist, you don't like them. Can't be helped. I'm just tired of seeing people use the "he keeps his job because of who his daddy is" conspiracy excuse. Because it's bulls***.

Considering the way both of the big companies have 'given away' such big names and such, I see JRjr as a bit of an Undertaker. He's been around forever, built up alot of loyalty and has both committed fans, fans who respect aspects of his work and detractors who will hate on him no matter.
As with anything in the media, it's subjective and the like.
But yeah, it isn't really fair to throw the legacy excuse out there.

I will agree that he makes money for Marvel, for some bizarre reason. his art makes my eyes bleed. I just get tired of "OMG ALL STAR SHITE ARTIST/WRITER IS INVOLVED" hyperbole, especially when said artist/writer REALLY doesn't deserve it.

From an overall technical standpoint and looking at his detailing, I don't see anything wrong with him. I'll give you the faces, though. They're pretty ugly to me.

I just find it very scribbly and blocky looking. maybe I've been spoiled by more modern art techniques, but there's just something really primitive and ugly about it to me. and don't get me wrong, I LOVE some oldschool style art like George Perez or Tom Grummett (who is as underrated as JRJR is overrated) but I just find that compared to those twon, JRJR's artwork just looks rushed and lazy.
