I don't even really understand why they are comparing the girls team record to the men's.
They don't do that with any other sport.

Geno Auriemma can throw around all the accusations of sexism he wants. The reason people want to see the UConn team lose isn't because it's women going after a men's record, it's because Auriemma is a grade-A douchebag who makes it his mission to run it up on his opponents and degrade other young womens' esteem. He is absolutely the opposite of John Wooden, and it's a shame that those girls have to be coached by him, successful or not. If it were any other team, it it was Tennessee, Stanford, anyone else, people would be rooting them on.

I hate them with a burning passion. The ONLY reason they have this streak is they keep grabbing all the good players. Now that wouldn't be a big problem, if there were a lot of chicks that are good at basketball, but there are not. So, by sucking up all the talent, UConn has made themselves invincible, more or less. Plus, as others have said, UCLA's record is much, much, MUCH more impressive. UConn's is more like a varsity high school team playing a group of 6th graders. That's exactly my feeling. If there were several powers, then this streak would mean a lot. But since UConn essentially took all the good players, then this means absolutely nothing to me. Nothing against the players: they are dominant. But a champ is only as good as the contenders that they beat, and there aren't any good ones.

Am I the only one who like Auriemma? Anyway, I do care about the streak, but not because of the whole matching/breaking UCLA thing. Just the fact that in any sport, a team can win that many games in a row is astounding.

UCLA had very little parity when they got the record, but it was still more than UConn. I have no problem with the team and it's good for them that they reached it, but it's a different league, so the records aren't really comparable.

I hope they keep it going to another title. I understand that some people may not like it, but the amount of talent parity at all college sports isn't as varied as we like to think it is.

While it is an impressive streak, I could really care less. It's a fine accomplishment, but since I don't watch much basketball regardless of who plays it ...

While impressive, I still won't care about Women's Basketball. Nothing personal, I just find it boring.

I don't get why they keep bringing up the men's record. Its two different leagues. Its like bringing up Cal Ripken's iron man record to the football one.

Is it impressive?
Not really. It just means they don't play anyone that can even match up to them at all. Even the higher ranked teams get run over by them.
