This thread is for everyone who wasted hours and days(?) of their lives messing with change machines and feeding quarters into those little slots. For me my favorites include Galaga, the TMNT arcade game, WWF Wrestlefest, and many more. I was inspired to create this after buying the PSN port of the X-Men Arcade game and reliving those days at the arcades.

Arcade games are what taught me to love side scrolling beat 'em ups. We need a renaissance of such games with 4 player modes.
Also, Wrestlefest was the ultimate at the arcade, and nothing beats teaming Jake Roberts with Mr. Perfect.

I miss those days too. But its great in the last several years there's been compilation sets on various consoles with near to perfect arcade ports of most games.

I also loved the experimental games, even if they sucked in execution. For instance, "Time Traveler"... Sega's "Holographic" game.
But my all-time favorite is Baby Pac-Man... where half the game is played on a normal video screen but once you go through one of the "warp zones" on the side, you play pinball on a mini machine that was attached.

I've said enough about how awesome TMNT and X-Men are in the past. But you know what game I miss? Double Dragon. Probably the best (and possibly hardest) arcade game I ever spent hours playing and eventually beating.

I'm not one of these people who is unbelievably good at games, but I could beat most of double dragon (up to the bit with the moving walls at the end) without getting hit.

X-Men is one of my favorite games ever. Arch Rivals (the basketball game with punching) was pretty fun, too. And any kind of driving game where you sit in the thing and actually act like you're driving.

I miss those days too. But its great in the last several years there's been compilation sets on various consoles with near to perfect arcade ports of most games. I play M.A.M.E. on my PC, and hook up the monitor to a flatscreen TV, so I can enjoy the great games from the arcade like the aforementioned TMNT, Wrestlefest, Mortal Kombat 2 or X-Men games. It's a blast to see it all again, and reliving the old days of my youth. Also, I had a surround system hooked up, so it made it 100X more cool. Still, I want an actual arcade cabinet in my place some day.

I work in an Arcade. I much appreciate the cabinet games more than the ticket games. I almost never have to bother with the cabinet ones.

For a period of time I had a mini arcade in my house while I was growing up. We had a penny slot machine (still have this, but it is inoperable), a pinball machine (sold it), a pool table (coin operated)(sold it), and a cabinet of Silk Worm (flew out the back of the truck when we were moving it). My house was the hang out house when I was kid, it was so cool. I miss having all that cool stuff.

The Darkstalkers and NFL Blitz machines ate up too much of my money, as did the Simpsons Arcade and House Of The Dead.

I miss the arcade experience. Sure there's Xbox Live, GGPO, PSN, and many other ways to play online, but it's just not the same.
I do like the sort of renaissance a lot of the popular arcade genres are experiencing right now, though. In particular, 2D fighters and Beat-Em-Ups. Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue, King of Fighters 2002 UM, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and the upcoming Marvel 3 and KOF13 for the former, and Castle Crashers, X-Men Arcade port, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World for the latter. The Wii's also sorta the place for Light Gun games, though it misses something without the proper gun controller to use.
If only Scott Pilgrim had online play. I know it's to preserve the offline experience, but it'd be nice to have it as an option as it can get pretty hard to get four people together these days.
Speaking of light gun games, anyone play the Terminator: Salvation arcade game? The game itself is pretty average, but the controllers are awesome.

Yeah, I actually played Terminator Salvation just the other day. The controllers are indeed badass and I love how you can reload by smacking the base of the rifle's clip. The gameplay, to me, reminds me a lot of a hi-res updated T2: The Arcade Game. It's a blast and way too good to be made by who it's made by.
