...for the longest time, you didn't know who did them, or what they were called. You don't have to like them for them to fit the criteria.
For me, here we go. This song was EVERYWHERE EVERYWHERE EVERYWHERE in the mid 90s. You couldn't escape it, and it was used as the background music to almost everything EVER. And it wasn't until today that I was finally able to find out what it was. I don't even particularly LIKE it at all. It just annoyed me that I never knew what it was.
And it was The Breeders - "Cannonball".

That new Train song. I've been a huge Train fan for a long, long time but had kinda put them on the back burner for the past couple years. Then that new song came out and was EVERYWHERE, and even ended up on a commercial, and I was thinking, "You know, for a song that's popular, I actually like this a lot." So I looked it up, and lo and behold it's by Train.

The song that goes "I see.... why the hell it means so much to me". It wasn't until I watched an episode of "Don't forget the lyrics" on TV when I found out who sung it.

Here's one for me that I still don't know the name of.
It starts witht he classical Beethovan's Fifth...
...then after the opening chords, it shifts to some disco-esque song.
When I was working in Tropicana in Atlantic City, I constantly heard that song.

Which was in turn sampled by Robin Thicke when he did his song "When I Get You Alone".

There's some... thing. I guess it's a song, of some sort, but it's almost impossible to describe as there are no lyrics. It's been real popular at sporting events for the past 5 years or so -- I first heard it during the Red Sox' run to the World Series win a few years ago. It's like... maybe an organ in the background, but mostly just piped in crowd chanting going "oh oh oh oh oh... oh oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh, OH oh." Repeated over and over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER UNTIL I WANT TO RIP MY OWN EAR OUT. Does this thing have a name?

Wait.....Queen sing this? Never knew :/ I can't believe people didn't know this...... I guess I should have mentioned I didn't really dig into Queen's discography (and became a huge fan of their work) until a couple of months ago. They were always changing their sound and style at that point, that guessing whether a certain song was theirs or not became a game. It's a simple mistake. Hell, I know some people who still think "Mrs. Robinson" is a Beatles song.
