The Boondock Saints series.
Duffy's ode to his ego and machismo in which two brothers become "vigilantes" to wipe out the mobsters in Boston.
I'll never understand the cult following this series has earned. It's trash.

Napolean Dynamite. I'll never understand the appeal of the film nor do I understand how Jon Heder even has a career or had one rather.

Donnie Darko.
I will never see the appeal in a movie where Bunny the Lifeguard is predicting the end of the world, some kids have a party, someone dies but not really, the end.

Napolean Dynamite. I'll never understand the appeal of the film nor do I understand how Jon Heder even has a career or had one rather. Well, his career ended shortly thereafter because he was an ass about it. Heard a few Napolean fans would ask him about the movie and he basically said "Why? I don't owe you anything." That kind of attitude, you reap what you sow. As for Donnie Darko... I liked the acting in it (especially Patrick Swayze) and the song Mad World. Other than that... uh... alright then. American Beauty was on my top 10 list for a while because I just loved Kevin Spacey in the movie. As time wore on, I dunno, it kinda lost its luster. I still like the movie, but don't call it a favorite.

Some recent movies that the hype trains ruined for me because they were heralded as being the greatest things ever and both end up being boring, plodding, preachy films:
The Dark Knight and The Watchmen

Napoleon Dynamite, Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead I concur with.
Add Dodgeball and Anchorman to the list.

Napolean Dynamite. I'll never understand the appeal of the film nor do I understand how Jon Heder even has a career or had one rather. A lot of people write it off as hating something because it got popular, but no. That's not it at all. From the first time I suffered through this movie I could not for the life of me understand what redeeming qualities it had. I don't think I laughed a single time. Worst thing is I was a projectionist at a theater showing it, so as it grew in popularity I could NOT f***ing get away from it!

I can't remember seeing such a boring film. Don't get the hype at all.

I'm a pretty big anti-fan of Quentin Tarantino, but I can still admit that Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs have their moments and can be appealing in some ways.
Inglorious Basterds, on the other hand, totally baffled me in how popular it became. Just an absolute mystery to me.

Okay, I don't know if I might get weird looks from some people here because I liked some of the movies that were mentioned. However, this is a different case because I liked the movie but I am still baffled by the appeal. I am talking about Scarface. Okay, I liked the movie because I like gangster movies and there was a good story about a drug lord's rise and fall. But what I don't like is that I see people wear Tony Montana shirts, especially from hip-hop/ghetto types who try to act all hard and gangsta. I mean, I liked the movie enough that I went so far as to even buy the video game and would read the comics, but I think a lot of people are basing Scarface too much on the final parts of the movie during the shootout and such. But I still like the movie anyway.
Although I will put in my other take, but I am mostly indifferent to the series and am open to watching, but at the same time, the hype makes me want to avoid as well. I am talking about the Twilight series.

The popularity of the Kick-Ass film eludes me. Comic-book had spotty quality but a logical 'superheroes don't work in the real world' message. Film went from a parody to 'OMG SUPERHEROES ARE AWESOME...' and yet gets praised?
