Judd Apatow movies- Tried watching 40YOV and Knocked Up, didnt find either one funny at all
Forrest Gump- BORING
Titanic- 3 hour movie about a boat sinking
I'll concur with Napolean Dynamite
Blair Witch Project- 90 min of my life I'll never get back. I even knew about the guy in the corner at the end and still had to rewind it a few times to see it.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a movie that this applies to for me.
The Crow is probably the most overrated movie that comes to mind. Fight Club is a bit overly praised as well, IMHO. How anyone can defend Transformers 2 is always baffling to me as well.

Napoleon Dynamite x 10. See, this was a movie that I really wanted to see. I had heard so much about it when it first came out that I thought it just had to be the most awesome thing ever. So I went out and rented it when it made it to DVD.
Watched it the first time, and simply didn't get it at all. Didn't really laugh at anything, and found myself waiting for the funny. So I watched it again with a friend. STILL didn't get the funny. A few months later, I watched it again with a girlfriend, STILL didn't get the funny.
At that point I decided that the movie just wasn't for me. It was just John Heder being quirky for the sake of being quirky. No real plot either.

Napoleon Dynamite.
Every Michael Bay movie ever. There are few people who I have actual disdain for. He is one of them.
Forrest Gump.
The Godfather movies. Don't get me wrong, they're okay, but I really don't get how anybody could possibly call them the greatest of all time. Plus Marlon Brando's acting is atrocious. Yeah, I said it.

The popularity of the Kick-Ass film eludes me. Comic-book had spotty quality but a logical 'superheroes don't work in the real world' message. Film went from a parody to 'OMG SUPERHEROES ARE AWESOME...' and yet gets praised? I'm with you here. I went to see this film and was more than utterly unsatisfied. I thought I'd seen an awful film. I expected to go home, read all the bad reviews, and Red Rooster Neck along with them in agreement. But to my shock and dismay I read almost unanimous praise for it. Something was lost on me.

I have never heard any praise towards Real Cancun or From Justin To Kelly (I actually sat through that on HBO back in the day. While I didn't dislike the movie completely, it was indeed bad) or even the Seltzer/Friedberg Movies, if you know what I mean.

I thought this was a thread about movies whose appeal you didn't get. I mean, obviously these movies had to appeal to someone or a group of someones, as they did make some money. Having watched all of the previously mentioned movies, though, damned if I know what that appeal is.

Napolean Dynamite. I'll never understand the appeal of the film nor do I understand how Jon Heder even has a career or had one rather. A lot of people write it off as hating something because it got popular, but no. That's not it at all. From the first time I suffered through this movie I could not for the life of me understand what redeeming qualities it had. I don't think I laughed a single time. Worst thing is I was a projectionist at a theater showing it, so as it grew in popularity I could NOT f***ing get away from it! I just didn't get it. I remember the cable company sending us some coupons for free movies on Demand, and I decided to see Napolean Dynamite to see what the big deal was. Guess the only quote I found amusing was from Napolean Dynamites brother when he said "You're just jealous because I talk to hot ladies online." That quote got a chuckle out of me, however, I guess the film is appreciated by those who enjoy that kind of humor. I just didn't care for it and I am glad I didn't pay for it.

I'll throw in the "love" for Napoleon Dynamite. It made me realize that I shouldn't trust anybody at school again, because their tastes were completely freakin' asinine. I may have chuckled only twice throughout the entire movie. And yet, every idiot was recommending it. I wasted two hours of my life watching that piece of crap.

So this thread has nothing to do with "going over your head", and everything to do with this being yet another damn "x and y are overrated" thread.
Great. We don't get enough of these.

The Boondock Saints series. Duffy's ode to his ego and machismo in which two brothers become "vigilantes" to wipe out the mobsters in Boston. I'll never understand the cult following this series has earned. It's trash. Watch Overnight, the documentary showing Duffy's rise and really quick fall. I hate to cheer misfortune, but Duffy's an untalented ass.

Inception - The effects were nice and I thought Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page were okay in it but that's about all I can find good to say about it. I thought Dicaprio's character was very unlikeable and it's hard for me to get into a movie where I can't stand the main character. It just seemed like it dragged on forever.
Wall-E - I like most Pixar movies but I can't stand this one. I saw it in theaters and didn't really care for it but I thought on a second viewing,I may like it more. I hated it even more the second time I watched it.
Toy Story & Toy Story 2 - Now let me start by saying I don't hate these movies. I don't. I just don't get the big appeal about them either. I find them to be okay but they are at the bottom of the Pixar movies that I enjoy(Wall-E excluded since I don't like it at all). I haven't watched 3 yet but am in no hurry to do so. There are other movies I want to watch first.
The Hangover - I didn't find this funny at all other than a couple moments. Then again,I haven't found any Todd Phillips directed comedy funny so I'm not sure why I was expecting anything different with this one.
Knocked Up,Superbad,Forgetting Sarah Marshall,Walk Hard,Step Brothers - Pretty much any R-rated Judd Apatow movie as of late. Even though I did enjoy Pineapple Express for some reason.

Kick-Ass. I like super dark, violent films. I like comedies. It's very hard to mix those two together and get Reese's and this movie is a prime example. Be one or the other.

Are you really shocked? Sadly, no. Honestly, I'm really inclined to start locking threads like this. It's the same thing every day in, day out, and it's almost always the same "Napoleon Dynamite is overrated, Judd Apatow isn't funny, and <insert universally revered film here> is boring." Ok, we get it, do we have to go on and on and on about it? It's clutter.
