Eddie. At least Nic throws his all into EVERYTHING he does and is generally entertaining in his moves and seems like he loves what he's doing. And he';s had more recentish decent movies than Murphy who only has Dream Girls on his side.

My favorite movies from each; Eddie - Bowfinger Cage - Face/Off
I don't think either legacy is tarnished, I think they may need some help picking better roles however. They can still bring it, they just kind of don't.

It has to be Eddie Murphy. Cage was always a quirky kind of actor so his ups and downs are kind of expected. Murphy though....his fall is much worse. The guy becomes the greatest comic of the 80s and stars in some huge hits. He's got the world in his hands. What does he do? He throws it all away by appearing in one crappy film after the next (with a few good ones thrown in here and there).
To make matters worse, for every good film he makes - he seems to make three stinkers. He ends up ruining every comeback he seems to get. He's become a joke. It's too bad because he does have talent. He went for the money and sold himself out.

Eddie. Nicolas Cage has been in some awful films but he's still one of my favourite actors who's been in some great films. I want to see Season Of The Witch actually but no one will go with me *sadface*

I wouldn't say either have really ruined their legacy. I still love watching Beverly Hills Cop no matter how awful Norbit or whatever else may be.

Cage has always sucked. He's either a hammy overactor, or a barely-perceptable underactor. Either way, his legacy is crap, so he hasn't ruined anything.
Murphy, on the other hand, had a decade of awesome movies. And since ... oy.
Jed Shaffer ~I don't know that I've liked a Murphy movie since Another 48 Hrs. That's 20 years of crap like Boomerang and Vampire In Brooklyn.

Murphy has done more crap between anything good (Dreamgirls)he has done since 1988 while Cage has had some good roles but also had futher to far than Murphy. Between the two I'd say Cage though I think Kevin Costner takes them both in this catagory.

Of those two I pick Eddie Murphy, but the correct answer is Mel Gibson. This. I have no issue with wanting to make kids movies, but I do think Murphy has completely phoned it in (Dreamgirls aside) for the last 15 years or so. Im trying to think, what was the last *successful* starring role he had that wasn't dreamgirls? Cage, for all his flaws (trust me, Im not his biggest fan) has at least had success with the National Treasure flicks. Not exactly oscar winners, but they made money and were pretty fun for what they were. I think the deciding factor (again, as someone else eluded to) is that Murphy was so big in the 80's, so much was expected of him and he kinda just.....fizzled out

Are you insinuating that Bowfinger is a bad movie? Because if you are... I can respect your opinion... but we then must disagree Also definitely Eddie Murphy. At least when Nick Cage makes a bad movie you can at least tell he's usually having fun with it, not to mention he's had a lot more recent hits then Eddie.

For the life of me, I cant figure out what the hell happened to Cuba Gooding Jr's career. The gods of acting are punishing him for stealing William H Macy's best supporting actor Oscar.
