Bill Polian must be insane if he couldn't find anything wrong with how his defense played tonight. Considering that he threw the entire offensive line under the bus after the Super Bowl last year, that's not surprising.

Anyone who is so angry at the NO-SEA game that we should re-seed the playoff seeding, keep in mind that everyone was proclaiming that the Saints were back after beating Atlanta just a few weeks ago. Does anyone has anything to say about this?

Bill Polian must be insane if he couldn't find anything wrong with how his defense played tonight. You know what is weird? He is only half wrong. I never would have believed it if you told me that Aaron Francisco, a third string safety who had all of 9 tackles last year, getting hurt would cripple the Colts defense. Once he went down and they put out a freshly signed free agent out there who did not know the defense yet, they got killed. Every time the Colts defense started to hold, he gave up a big pass in the middle. I don't blame the guy because he was doomed to fail. I see your Brees face and raise you Manningface That is the face of a QB that doesn't understand how his coach doesn't understand that he is the most feared QB in the league for a reason. Brady wins more, but name me one QB that forces other teams to change their strategies the way that Peyton does.

That's just weird. The Los Angeles downtown stadium project could already have a naming rights deal in place with Farmers Insurance, according to Peter King.

You always get this feeling there's a sort of unspoken tension between him and Peyton. And tonight it was more visible with Peyton's "WTF" gesture when he called the time out. Obviously, he's a successful coach, since his team got to the Super Bowl last year after an incredible first season and he got to the playoffs this year despite how banged up the team was. But a lot of that could also be due to Peyton being Peyton. On that note, I wouldn't be surprised to see Peyton Manning, at the very least, become an Offensive Coordinator after he retires. And I think that's a huge contribution to his greatness. Even with guys like Tom Brady having better seasons, I've never seen a quarterback be as much a gridiron general as Peyton is.

I really hope the Colts fire Caldwell and damn near the whole coaching staff.
The special teams were a legendary sort of dreadful. And Caldwell's timeout made so little sense that I'm stunned a person who understands the basic tenants of time management and how football works would call it.

Well, part of the problem was that so many people got hurt that special teams players had to play the positions that they were technically drafted as. On top of that, they had to release some special teams players that were good in order to sign other players that could play on defense and offense. Special teams and the practice squad got gutted in order to fill in all of the injury slots. Edit: I just looked it up and the Colts had 17 players on injured reserve for today. Think about it for a minute: 17 of the 55 (31%!!!) man roster did not finish the season to the point that they were put on injured reserve. That does not include Session, who did not play today, or Francisco, who did not get out of the first half unhurt.

Dear football gods:
Please eliminate the Baltimore Ravens today. They're a bunch of whiny, loud mouth douches.

Signed, Someone who is sick of them crying conspiracy/bad officiating after every loss Hmm, well, there wasn't much of that this season seeing as they only lost four games. Do I detect a hint of fear from a Pats fan who knows quite well Baltimore have every chance of rolling into Foxborough and bringing the Patriots to their knees should they make it?

It'd make my year if the Jets beat the Pats next week.
Absolutely loved seeing the colts lose, if they eliminate the pats aswell i might have to root for them to the SB. I like the saints aswell, but it was awesome watching the Hawks somehow manage to beat them. Beastmode

Jim Caldwell cost the Colts the game with that stupid timeout that allowed Sanchez and the Jets to regroup I want to expand on this thought in a broader picture: I think it's fairly obvious the only reason the Colts made it to the Super Bowl last year was because the team was made up of Tony Dungy's players and in the big game Caldwell made a stupid decision to be conservative going into half time and that was a factor in the team losing yesterday the loss squarely falls onto Caldwell's shoulders I think he deserves to be fired, hell remember the look on Manning's face when the time out was called

So I wake up this morning and I'm looking for the" NFC West doesn't deserve a playoff spot " haters.
Where oh where did these people go?
Surely nothing happened yesterday that could have possibly changed such strong opinions. Right?

They just took care of business yesterday. Good for them. My mind hasn't changed.

I see your Brees face and raise you Manningface At points over the last two seasons I've gotten the feeling Peyton has wanted to sneak up behind Jim Caldwell on the sidelines with some piano wire. In Week 15 last year he looked like a kid who got his Christmas presents opened, then his parents came in and decided to give them all to the neighbors. Then last night, ugh. Just watching the games, it seems like Caldwell picks the worst times to try and show everyone that he's the coach, not Peyton Manning. Forcing the team to sit in Week 15 while the entire arena showered him in deafening boos and the players sat around looking miserable. Then last night forcing them to just run out almost a full minute of clock with time outs remaining at the end of the first half. Then yeah, the bizarre time out call he had. I really, really don't like him. And this is just me, but if I was one of the players I'd probably feel the same way.

Saints (well, Saints defense; Brees and Co. put 36 points on the board which is a good day's work for an NFL offense usually) obviously took them way too lightly. The Hawks offense went all out, but the Saints D played terrible defense. It was outright anemic. That said, I think the Hawks are doomed if they face a team with a good defense that shows up to play. Like the Pack. Or the Bears. The Saints had a pretty miserable defense this year anyway and they were even worse yesterday.

That makes as little sense as Mike Shanahan's reasons for pulling Donovan McNabb from the 4th for Rex Grossman that one week.
